Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Another Update:

We have quite a few more that have pipped externally, and yet another on the wrong end. We candled all the eggs this afternoon, and we have quite a few more that seem to have pipped internally.

So, a few questions for the collective:

1) For those that are on the wrong end, if we "assist" every few hours or so, we should be ok? Once we can look into the shell enough we want to see if the yolk is absorbed, and the blood vessels gone? Any dangers here by doing this, with the membrane or something else I don't know about?

2) For those that have pipped internally, or at least, I can see them moving in the shell when candled, I am worried that they will also be pipped on the wrong end. Is there any harm in pipping the shell externally at the air sac?

We are now at 28 full days since incubation...I stopped the egg turner more than 72 hours ago.

Or- do I just need to wait?

My Pekins are trying to hatch early, When I candled them this morning, they looked like they were jumping up to the light. LOL they are trying so hard to get through that membrane. They aren't due until next week though. My Crelo chickens are suppose to hatch Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope they hurry up. I have eggs coming from Erin, which should be here tomorrow. and I have some Ancona duck eggs on the way too. I need more room. I have 3 bators full and need more room. I am so addicted. What am I going to do???

I got my Zarda and Gates today too!!! Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much QJ. I tasted the Zarda and ohhh I can not wait to cook some ribs on the barbie. Thank you again so much girlfriend. I will have to find something up here to hook you up with now.

No don't do that. It's funny ... the minute I posted that I got an email that it had been delivered. Now for 70 to get hers. I'm having a problem with the International thing.

The ones that have pipped on the wrong end. You can go ahead and pull some shell back to make sure they can breathe. That's as far as I'd go until tmw.

The ones that are internally pipped. Hold them up to your ear. If you hear them pecking, then leave them. If you don't hear pecking.. give them until tonight and then listen again.. Still no pecking.. I'd poke a hole for them. But not until late tonight.. maybe even tmw morning.

OMG. I know! I'm going to have to sell some of mine. I wasn't expecting 8 Saxony to hatch! And 9 black javas! It's a zoo around here!

OK, the ones that have pipped on the wrong end have been given enough to breathe, we'll listen to the others. We could certainly see them moving when candled. I am hoping that they will just pip on the right end of things on their own.

This whole thing is way more stressful than I imagined. I just need to buy a Muscovy hen and let her do it.

My Polish go into LD on the 13th, & hatch day is the 15th.... What day did you set your polish? I thought I set them before you? Shows what I know!

Ha. I know. (stress) Or you could get a little banny to do your dirty work. It's fun, but very stressfull for sure. Especially the geese! That was my major stressor.

They look good. I would start helping again tmw or late tonight. The trick is to only help them enough to where you can see the yolk and then in the end they push themselves out.

I officially have some mystery duck eggs, royal palm turkeys, americaunas and a chinese goose in the bator. (for a friend.) I also have 6 or 7 of my own ducks... to see which drake is doin' their business correctly. LOL.

I'm excited.

He says I can keep some turkeys and the goose but I'm scared of the chinese gooseys.
