Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Oh you're kidding me. Could it be an accident? Surely someone wouldn't lie about it when obviously it will lay an egg one day.

You did give me a funny mental though... :)

Actually wait.. wasn't the goose in Jack and the Beanstalk a male that laid eggs?? Do those eggs have a golden hue to them??

oh well, and yes I'm glad that I haven't made anyone mad at me... although I still have an extra sweet gander to deal with.

Sorry for the bad/ruff hatches it seams to be going around.

Can we shoot the inventer of Daylight savings time?

I like your rule. I almost never help, unless they are expensive purchased eggs, and even then, not if they don't pip. I know what to do, I just don't do it. I hate to get emotionally tied to a baby that may not make it. It depresses me big time.

Hi all!

Right now I'm just hatching new stock, and new breeds. I do my ducks starting in May, so babies don't neccessarily have to have their little stinky messy bottems inside. Here in Kansas, it goes from winter to summer like overnight. Ditto fall. Not much medium cool weather here.

My daffodils are blooming all over the place. It got warm so fast though, I didn't get crocus or grape hyacinth. Oh well.

I set my sebbie eggs yesterday. Today I should get silkies and pheasent eggs. Then, no new eggs until after easter.

(Yeah, right)

Weather on this side of the river has been just as odd. daffodils are comming up and the peonies are peeking through.

I have to have a set of eggs to hatch in a 3 day span... I'm thinking chicken

I switch at about 6-8 weeks, when they are about 75% sized up. (Ducks grow soooo fast)

*takes notes* got 10 babies and little geese to think about

Your welcome. I'm happy to help, but only what I know. I raise ducks, but its Celtic and Jaz who hatch the most, I think. They are the BIG bator girls. (Sorry if I missed anyone-feel free to correct me)

What kind of ducks do you have? I keep egg ducks, they are my favorite hobby, and I sell a lot of eggs. In fact, I just made arrangements to selll quail eggs to another person last night. Now, If only I could get some new stock in. MY breeders are getting a bit older, and I really wanted to change up some males and females for increased fertility.
