Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

After talking to you today I set 26 more quail eggs from my hens. After losing the one last baby from quaillady today I started getting severe fluffy withdrawls. I also contacted quaillady about my 2 dozen replacement eggs. She said they will be here before the 24th. This is fine as long as I can get them hatched before my dozen cayuga eggs need to be put in lockdown, it should work out perfectly. My bator is gonna be jam packed! Mr. Brinsea will have no room for his racks and I will have to stack 'em in! Oh well, at least I will get some babies....

They are CRAZY little things! they are just teeny tiny & just the size of Popcorn

THEY zoom everywhere & are fast little boogers. I have never had any issues hatched quail, eyeheart hatches them to, and Marty I believe. I am sure there are more on here that do

Oh yeah, and I only have one roo to my 8 hens so I am positive I will be pulling out some infertile eggs in a few days. That will also save me some space.

Meet my little Twitchy! Despite his battles, he is doing GREAT this morning. The past couple nights when I went to bed I expected him to not make it to morning. He wasn't really able to use his right leg. It was pulled in close to his belly like it had been when he was in the shell. But when I checked on him this morning he was STANDING in the incubator! I almost cried. lol! My hours of feeding him and getting him clean and fluffy has paid off! I put him in the brooder and got a picture to show off.

Congrats Cass, very cute.

morning to everyone else.

Hubby got to come home last night, was nice to have him home again.

Have to gather all of the ducklings and deliver them to the feed store this morning. Also picking up a new 6 month old female goat as a new companion to ours that is left in the pasture.

Now that Twitchy is better I have another question I could use some advice one. I have an duck that pipped (the RIGHT end this time!

) But it looks like it may have gotten stepped on hard or something. The other end of the egg has a couple spots that look like it has been pushed in form the outside. Not through the membrane but cracked the shell and indented the egg. I should be concerned about shrink wrap or drying out right? But shouldn't be much else to keep and eye out for?
