Just saw this. If the veins are big then so is the yolk. And if it can peep it can breathe. So you're doing exactly what I would.
Phew! Thanks for the help! This is my first time with a truly shrink wrapped chick and although I'm not it's "Mommy" the instincts are still there! LOL!

I thought they looked a tad small. What were you thinking?
ETA: I mean.. did you think they looked a tad small?
Are you ready for this fun-ness? NONE of my eggs are fertile. LMFreakingAO!!
Really? So here's my next question...
How many drakes does it take to service 2 females.. uh.. that would be MORE THAN 2 apparently!!
Good grief.
The only one that is growing is and older one from Julie hen.. so I suspect that it's the last surviving spermy because it would be the very end of that time.. Since it's been in there a week or more and I picked it up 2 weeks ago. It's pushin' it.. but I guess we'll find out!
CG: I think he is definitely not doing it right.
They are much smaller eggs. But really they're probably the same as the mallard. I bet they start to drop. Can you open a vent for my ventilation? That's supposed to help too.
