Baby ducks are awefully cute and funny. We get a kick out of the way they all turn their heads and look at us with one eye. LOL

Still nada from the sitting and waiting in lockdown bator. (I hate the waiting at the end part the worst.)

Thanks for your help. These are duck eggs... I thought they stopped turning / moved to hatching incubator on day 25?

I have seen the air sac in the top with candling. Does the space at the bottom of the egg go away as the egg matures? And does it it disappear all the way? If so, about what day?

The aircell makes a dramatic dropdown beginning on day 21/22 because the duckling is making its turn into final hatching position. At this point, it is ok to stop turning, as the duckling is already turning inside. The humidity stays the same until the duckling then internally pips, which can be seen through aircell or otherwise verified by listening for the click click sound of breathing. That is the signal to increase humidity for hatching.

Metzer Farms has an excellent page of what you should see for each day of candling. http://www.metzerfarms.com/Candling.cfm

Oh... and fyi... Blue egg #1 externally pipped a big dimple about an hour ago. Egg #2 is almost there, as I can see the beak hitting shell through the shell without candling (if that makes sense).

My blue egg is the only one that has NOT internally pipped! I hope it makes it.

Fantastic news, Christine!!!! Only 24-72 hours to go!

Update on remaining pidgey egg: the darn thing is starting to shadow up what I will call the back-side (not that there is a "back side" the cell is so wonky) and clearly pulsing strong on the membrane!!

Can I Puh-leaze get one messed up pidgey egg out of 24 to hatch?!?!

I just noticed I have a dead swedish flower hen. I suspect foul play. It was fine this morning. I heard some weird peeping about an hour ago and looked out into the garage and didn't see anything weird.

What a bummer.
