Well, enjoy this hatch first. I almost always go with the hands off approach, but shipped eggs aren't so reliable I'm afraid. In fact, they can be disappointing and aggrivating. (come on Lucky)

Since some are on thier way, odds are you'll get a few, and its much simplier to let them do it themselves, if you can.

Just candled all my eggs. Still can't see anything in woodie's egg but leaving it in there. 6 turkeys are doing great, the other 2 shells are darker so they are harder to see. 11 EE, 9 in the incubator and 2 left under the broody. Of course, since my roo has started crowing and I may actually have fertilized eggs all silkies have gone broody so no eggs for a few weeks minimum. The one that went broody today keeps trying to share the nest with the hen sitting on the EE eggs. Keep taking her out, they are about to hatch and she didn't do any work, she needs to go play with the roo and lay me some eggs instead. I think I'll put both of the silkies in a wire cage tomorrow for a few days to see if they'll snap out of it. They can go broody when they have their own eggs to sit on.

QJ, very cool!!! I can buy eggs from him to ship out Monday if Celtic cannot sell me a few. I figure I may as well get a few duck eggs if I will have the bator running for my 2 new toulouse eggs. And hubby said he'd rather have SA over more cayuga eggs.

I sure wish Christine would come online with an update on her ancona "take a chance" eggs!!

I'd go with him then. And the apples are so funny. And fat. And hungry all the time!

Qj. You cut granny smith and red delicious apples into small chunks. Cut snickers bars into small chunks and mix with whipped cream. Really simple an really yummy

I can handle that. Yummy! Snickers are my favorite.

Thank you. I was getting the same feeling about the shipped eggs. Also I know we need to be more experienced with the hatching process...

So if the egg has dimpled, you only have concerns if there isn't movement? I thought I remembered something about the air running out. I guess I am assuming the duckling is out of the membrane since it has dimpled the egg and we have heard peeping..

We have 40+ eggs incubating and most are developing. I am pretty sure we have some that have stopped though but I want to make sure before pulling them out.

Sebbie Update:

#1: Nothing.
#2. Veining!! (but smaller than number 3)
#3 Veining!!

Experiment:

#2 is smaller than #3. Just like Fiona was smaller than the one that died. So I have switched those 2 eggs. Maybe because they're on an angle... the one that is slighty higher up is getting a half degree warmer. Or something.

(My entire tray is at an angle.)

Had one egg slightly damaged but it didn't break the membrane so it went in the bator anyway.

The Lucky ducky update -

He is improving. He is holding up his head some, and is trying to stand to walk. (flipped himself over once allready)

Sounds and looks like he may make it. In the pic, he has his little head up talking to me. He ditched his shell a few hours ago.

Evening all, someone catch me up for today please?


Busy day around here. Ducklings left, ducklings hatched, chicks left more EE chicks hatched, Sebastopols left, more hatched and in lockdown now. Bunnies left, and lots of eatting eggs. Tomorrow, more Sebastopols and ducks leave. Have to take 7 call ducks to be weighed Monday to ship this week.

Sbost, if you see dimple on shell, make sure egg is laying down and humidity high.

Lucky is still quite weak, and can't stand good, but is improving, which is the important part. I've given him 4 drops of sugar water (2 drops/hour), and it did perk him up a bit. I'll give him a bit more just before bed. Is there anythin else to do, but leave him in the bator on warm? W/ all the others dead, he is alone and I've let humidiy drop again, since he's clear of shell. He reminds me of the premie equiv. to a ducky baby. He is now how I expect a new late hatcher to act.
