It has ever so slight shadowing in back that I can see pulsing... plus, when I was candling it to try to find location to enter shell, I can feel it. It is not as strong as it was last night, though. And of course, within the past hour, it has started blue staining the shell.
I'm the same way as far as holding them. My daughter loves to hold her in her lap. Of course yesterday she had to change her britches... Ugh. I try to make her not hold them, but then I'm also thrilled that she loves them so much. So.... we have poo sometimes. (poo happens)
And we have had a bad string of luck lately.. but it's weird how the bad luck happens to us all at the same time.
we were out in the apple orchird .
decided to take the chunky butts for a walk.
then we walked all the way back to the other side of the property, to see the big ducks,
no one is thrilled with eachother still lol.
QJ, love your posts! You one funny lady! I'll be sure to put a note on my paypal payment about your recommendation to get eggs from him.
It's official.... the goslings are not returning to indoor pen. It is crazy the way they are going at each other, which I assume is for dominance (like horses). They need the extra space and outside stimulation. Plus, I'm tired of hearing them scream. Since there is a quick moving snow storm coming in late tonight/early tomorrow, I told hubby we can either canvas tarp the pen and leave in front yard or move pen into garage... but they are not coming back into the house! The geese are in love. They can have them!
Always such a pleasure to see all the new babies everyone is getting.
Well, Happy to report that Lucky is walking around well, eating mush, and drinking water. He's in the brooder now with a baby chick from the other group.
Heres the newest pics....
Here is lucky trying to catch me as I try to snap a pic, he's bonding to me great.
Lucky snacking on mush
Its so nice that he's going to make it. He is doing just great. Totally healthy now, like the last day and a half never happened. He's certianly
caused me more trouble that other duck hatches, but I guess we'll just have to spoil him/her.
Well, sold my last four runner ducklings this morning. I'm sad. I know they went to a good home, but one of them was the one hubby helped to hatch and another was the duckling with the cutest feet in the whole world!
I'm totally hiding the ones I want to keep in the bathtub next hatch. I know I can't keep them all, but I should have taken pick of the "litter" with the first hatch. Guess I lost my chance when little Pocket died.
I've still got the three huge pekins. They are such sweet ducklings. They all seem to like to nibble on the sleeves of my shirt.
It's officially named "Early Bird". We got home just in time to see it hatch out... this was from a pekin egg. What does this look like to you guys? We do have a khaki campbell male and a mallard male but it reminds me of a blue or black swedish. Would be great, we have lost all of ours to predators. It's very active and 3 days early... was put in the incubator on 2/29.
Congrats iain
Julie eggs are packed and ready to ship!
Ugghh guys i ssooooo have the hatchin bug im goin insane without egs in the bator. By the end of the week i should have some in. And only 2 more weeks for babies
Hello everybody. I have been gone for a while, I know, I know, I need to check in more often. I have been so busy cleaning up around here . I got the duck house all cleaned out and the yard around it cleaned up from all the winter yuck. Put up a new fence for them so they can have more room to walk around. Also, I moved the baby Pekins out to the big house today. I have to keep them separated from the big ducks through because Mama Robyn trys to run them over . She just takes her chest and pounds it into them. So at one time the babies will be in the kennel, and next the big ducks will be. I will lock the babies into the dog house thats out there. It is full of sawdust and then lots of hay over that. Its only suppose to get to 55 tonight so they should be alright in there.
I have 5 BEIs hatching right now. I had 6 but one of them died right before pipping. The other five have zipped the tops off and are just laying in the shell right now. I figure I will move them to the front porch into the dog kennel tomorrow. I have some Pekins and Runners getting ready to hatch in the same incubator as the BEIs are in too.
SO. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE CATCH ME UP ON WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING???!!
Love the pic!
I'm lucky if my 2 year old will even keep her diaper on outside. I have quite the exhibitionist, and as she gets her clothes muddy she simply removes them all and goes running through the yard naked.
I just met the new neighbors that moved in across the street. He was standing at the gate with his kid looking at the chickens so I brought one up for him to pet. Neighbor said they love the chickens (yay, no one to complain about my roo still) and they want some. Hmm, I happen to have some chicks hatching in a few days...and have a couple of really cute ducklings too...think I found somewhere for some of my babies to go and I'll still get to see them grow up.
Then I won't be that weird chicken lady, we'll be that weird chicken street, lol. Especially since hubbies friends down the block just got a couple of chickens last week too.

Pip for it. You will regret it if you don't. Do you have an exacto knife/razor blade? You can make an X with it and then use tweezers to get the shell started and it won't break the membrane this way.. if you're careful. Since it's a delicate situation.

Oh and Julie.. you made me feel better. Later that day, my 3 yr old was running around in her panties in the backyard. I can't keep clothes on her either. She just wants to be naked. And make me feel like Boogen.
Then I'm that crazy duck girl who doesn't clothe her children because she's too busy messing with those ducks. Ya know how people are.
And I'm sure they're not thinking that... but still.
