Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Utah, you're doing a fab job. Sorry for not coming back earlier....I forgot that I had a poultry club meeting to go to. Just got home a little while ago.

You must be exhausted.

No worries Cocoa. Thanks for the compliment. I don't know how all these guys are making it! There are 4 eggs to go.........

So, I realized I had not seen any action from the silver apple, so I decided to take a look. It too was shrink-wrapped. So I busted it open too. The first shrink-wrapped baby I found was too far gone, but the rest are doing well. I am now one by one freeing heads from shell.

thats a bummer.
that alll of them got shrinkwrapped

I think I'm gonna have to go to sleep, myself. I'm hoping that I'll wake up to hear that your little guys are doing well. :-)

The whole shrinkwrapping thing is a major downer. I'm gonna see what my duck books say about it tomorrow. You're doing so well to get so many out alive.

iain, i ccouldnt imagine having to help that many babies at once. 2-3 was stressfull enough. but like 70 said if you didnt help you would regret it.
you really have to be exhausted tho. i would have gotten beaks to where they could breath and taken a short snooze.

First let me just say....Wow to you staying up all night with these babies I don't think I could have done that.

This was deffinately a hard hatch for you and given your last set of Ancona eggs not going so good either I'm starting to wonder whats going on with your incubator. What was your humidity durring the incubation? How about durring lockdown?

Baby #7 is out. Internal pip/shrink wrap baby seems to be fading, but my other 2 internal pip babies look good.

Updates from my end of the world - We are starting to see some movement in our hatching incubator! We have true Ameraucanas in their (this will be our first set of eggs from our pullet) along with some Olive Eggers and just a few splash cochins. I was hesitant to set the cochins because i have so many chicks in the grow out pen right now from the splash flock. The Olive Eggers will all probably be for sale after hatch though because I have plenty of those too.

Friday will be a few runner ducks hatching out which will be the first of the season.

Here is my bator.... hoping the 3 internal pips can get out on their own when ready. Hoping to leave the SA egg alone for at least a few more hours.

Chicken, not sure about last week's set, but this set took a heat/humidity beating during last week's hatching when I was trying to save an egg. This time around, I was better about remembering to micro-manage the other bator when steaming up room to hatch these guys.
