Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

You guys and your horses are reminding me of a story. (imagine that.)

My aunt had Tennessee Walkers when I was a kid. And one day she saw her son (my cousin) come inside kinda acting weird.. and walk back out with the gun. So she of course said.. "Woah.. what's going on?" Well, her horse had gotten up in his feed trough and fallen over onto a fence post and was basically shish-ka-bobbed on it. Still alive. My cousin and Uncle had gone out and found it and were going to "take care of it" and THEN tell her. They didn't want her to see her horse that way.
But when she found out what was going on, she ran out there and MADE them call the vet. Well, the vet of course said.. there is absolutely nothing I can do for this horse. It was obviously in a lot of pain and he suggested they put her down. (duh).

My aunt is still traumatized by seeing that. He was an AMAZING horse.

Marty, maybe the goat you are thinking of is a Kinder? we have those... well we soon will. The way to make a kinder, is to cross a pygmy buck, with a nubian doe. We have a nubian doe pregnant now by a pygmy buck. The babies will be registered.

What do I do about these 2 baby chickens that can't stand up yet?????
When did these hatch? I don't remember these.

We're just starting 4H too! Both ruth (12) and Julia (6) love love poultry too, so why not? We ain't gettin' no cows though. Or pigs. (maybe a nice milk goat would be good.....)

What are those tiny milkgoats named? Not the LaManchas (we love those too) but the pygmy or something..... Anyone know?
No way! We're twins. Mine is 8 (McKulla) and she is in Love with the chickens/ducks. She wants to show at the fair really bad. The other 2 humans are too young. (3 and 1)

Oh, and if you want a REALLY nice milk goat, get a Nubian! We have 2 does, and a buck. Both does are WONDERFUL milkers. Very calm, sweet goats too!

I always knew we were birds of a feather, all flocking togather here every day! LOL.

I wish we had another little human. (sigh) I have terrable pregnancies, and worse, genetic heart diesease runs in our families, so we've lost 3 pregnancies in the third trimestor. After Julia, I just said I was done, because i just couldn't take the worry of how it would end anymore. I wanted to stop on a high note.

I used to have Nubians, and Sanaans, as a teenager. Here, I don't have much room for them, so I did have a lovely laMancha doe, but she had a bad habit of standing on her roof. She got sturck by lightening there.

I've read about the dwarfs or whatever they are, that only give about 1 qt to 1.5 qts per day. I want to try those. (besides, I don't make near as much cheese as I used to, but I would mind being a speciality goat cheese and organic duck egg producer.)

Absolutely understand that one. I wouldn't be able to handle that either. It's hard enough keeping your mind sane while pregnant when everything IS going textbook. I would be a mess. An absolute mess.

Kinders would be a good goat for you then. Darf goats have very small teets to milk with.

I had sheep as a kid.. but I pretty much just looked at them.

What do you do with your goats DG?

Last time I was working on my coop at the farm and I said to my dad.. "I was thinking.." and he immediately said, "NO." I was like , "You don't even know what I was going to say!!" and he says, "Oh yes I do.. NO GOATS."

LOL. How did he know that?!?
