Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I am in the same boat with my anconas. I have 8 newly hatched... which brings my total count to 13. I want to try to sell 2-3 of the new babies, but want to keep the girls.

However, I will be attempting to vent sex my goslings this weekend, so I can sell a pair... that is the only way I can justify buying any more goose eggs!!

Prayers, for your horse Utah. It took lots and lots of prayer for my girl and patience, one day she was no longer lame and then as tempting as it was to throw her back out to pasture she still had to be stalled for another 2 1/2 months. It was a long process, but now that she is completely healed I'm glad I took the time it takes treating ligament injuries. I swear she is accident prone. Hope your baby gets cleared for rehab riding soon.

Chicken, sorry to hear about your horse, but CONGRATS on being able to ride!! My #1 horse has been laid up now for over 6 months due to his latest horrid leg/hoof injury and am hoping he will be cleared to begin rehab riding in the next month.

In the meantime, all my new babies are good and today is day 21 for both my cayugas and my remaining utility toulouse baby... which is the day to draw pencil lines to start watching for dip.

Hope everyone is having a good morning!!

I'm a horse gal, too....but I can't hardly watch a movie that a horse get's injured, mistreated or killed. I want to see War Horse, but I heard the horse dies?

You have a gorgeous mare, by the way! Glad to hear she is bouncing back from her injury. I sure hope my poor boy does. I'd post a couple pics of his injury, but not sure if everyone can handle it. The would is clean and not bloody, just looks really bad......

Oh, the horse did not die. It does get injured, and that was extremely hard to watch but he lives. Thanks Dutch and keep your chin up about your boy. Horses are amazing healers sometimes and even more amazing is the injuries they come up with in the first place. I've heard really good things about vetericin (sp) for wounds have you thought about using something like that?

I've heard goslings are easier than ducklings, but practice makes perfect. I'm getting better at it with my ducklings.

Thanks Chicken... this darn horse is 10 years old (got him at 11 months), and he has spent more than half his life laid up recovering from assorted medical issues. It's kind of the running joke with my vets, surgeon, and farrier (who are all good friends of mine) to place bets on how long he can go in between illnesses or injuries. Amazingly, whether he is hurt or not, he is always a happy-go-lucky boy.

Hope to see pics of you riding your horse on the trails!!

QJ: About flippin' time!!
