I had someone buy four ducklings this afternoon. I'm going to miss them, but I'm happy to have brooder space... for a few days!

Thanks GQ. I keep telling myself I'm gonna stop rescuing but always end up rescuing again. At least he had a happy life for the short time he was with me.

My afternoon has been a busy one. Picked up two blue runners from a BYC'er and just about the time I pulled them out of my car, my duckling buyer showed up.

Only nine more ducklings need new homes. I'm going to sell my crested swedish-ish and my swedish-ish duckling since I brought home the runners today. That's even though I have an offer on the runners. But I didn't want to bring them home and then turn around and sell them, that would be disrespectful to the friend I got them from. And besides, we bonded on the car ride home.

I've got a couple "keepers" that I might consider selling once I see how they mature and feather out. I know I'm going to lose money that way, but I don't want to risk selling a duckling that may turn out to be absolutely stunning!

Thanks! I can't believe I'm still mooshy about seeing the ducklings go to new homes. The nice thing is that I think I've made more new friends from Craigslist than anywhere else lately.

. Glad you've met some friends from craigslist! It's refreshing to meet some good people. And you shouldn't feel bad at all! I even missed demon guinea this morning and that evil bird doesn't deserve a bit of sympathy

My sweet turkeys have turned on me

My friend has turkeys and one of them bit me on the butt because she wanted attention. Didn't hurt me. I spent the next hour chatting and petting a turkey.

I don't think I'd be able to raise turkeys. I've heard they're mean, but from my experience, the hens are so darn sweet. How could I ever eat one once I got to know it?
