Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

=D
we are hatching buddies then.
my call eggs are due thursday. both in bator and under call hen. (who is peeved that she is now penned in a wire pen. )

ive got 2 eggs working on int pip already so i bumped humidity. one of the 6 did wuit the other day tho.

so 5 in bator and 4 under miss call.
then more eggs due the 2nd and the 25th. as well as my silkie X cochin eggs the 5th. my calendar is a a total mess with 3 different colors written on it , each identifying a differeny hatch
Yay! Hatching buddies! I need to check for internal pipping on the 3 under the Call hen. They are due tomorrow....can't decide if I wanna leave them with her, or bring them in. I'll probably bring them in cuz I just can't stand not knowing what is going on!

That and I don't want a newborn falling into their pool.

lol im trying to leave mine under the hen.
so far sooo good.

I believe Butters is ready to be discharged from the hospital! I need to do some shifting around in the brooders, and will put him and his silkie buddy in with the others once I have a clean brooder for them. Going to put them all in a bigger brooder, then add Uno.

Butters is doing very, very well. I think he might have an infection in one eye, but a drop or two of Gentak should fix that. I decided to put the silkie that is wearing taped shoes in with him....Butters was scared to death at first. He's only known me, lol. He's getting used to him now. It looks like the tape has come off of one foot, but it looks cured. Amazing how 24 hrs of tape can fix fisted feet. I'm thinking I'll be able to put Butters in with the group tomorrow.
Have 3 Call eggs due in two days, currently under a broody. Then 5 days from now 2 more under another broody.
I checked my scrambled silkie eggs in the bator, and out of 30 eggs I at least have 22 growing. I seem to have this air cell stabilization thing down pretty good, lol. Chicken eggs are soooo much easier than Call eggs!

Oh yeah...I've got a buff dewlap girl on her way from Carole, with 6 Copper Marans chicks for packing peanuts

They will arrive Wednesday! I promised the Marans to my mother, as a Mother's Day gift.
And oh my! Simon is getting his dewlap!!! Marcel is starting to, as well! And Simon has a very deep keel going...looks like he's got pants falling down around his knees!

is it just me or are Quail horrid about piling on each other and smooshing everyone?

I won't bring them in until after they have internally pipped....if I bring them in. I'm thinking there's another butterscotch egg under her, and I really want to make sure it hatches. I think it's my last chance for a butter...Can't remember if there's one under the other broody.

i havent checked them for 2 weeks.
im anxious but this hen is kinda flighty. so i cant really check them. i will thursday tho. pull any eggs that havent hatched yet and any babies.

Just sent Celtic her money, so should have my babies by the end of this week! YAY! So, should I brood all together? Or seperate in pairs? Or seperate by gender, then I can pair them up as adults with no fussing....? New to geese, so advice is well thanked!

Yay!!!

If you are wanting to keep two separate breeding pairs, I'd pair them up now. That way, they are bonded and by spring you should be able to run them together and they will stick with their mate....or still keep them separated if you want for ease of collecting eggs.

I haven't checked mine in about a week either, and the two hens in there are quite the little monsters. I forgot to plug in my hatcher last night, so once it's up to par later, I'm going to check eggs. If I decide to grab and run, like with the last batch, I need my hatcher ready, lol.

OK, heres my idea! I have 2 brooders, and 2 lamps. And 10 ducklings, and 4 goslings.

Brooder #1: 1 pair of goslings, 4 WH ducklings, and 1 appleyard duckling.

Brooder #2: 1 pair of goslings, 2 silkie ducklings, 2 WH ducklings, and 1 runner.

Thats for at night. Ducklings are outside during the day, cause they are so freaking big! Goslings wont go out in the play pen till they are at leased 2, 3 weeks old....

So tell me about your goslings guys! I'm so excited for mine, I can't even begin! Do any of you have some pics you can post? Baby geese are so darn cute!!
