Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

OK, heres my idea! I have 2 brooders, and 2 lamps. And 10 ducklings, and 4 goslings.

Brooder #1: 1 pair of goslings, 4 WH ducklings, and 1 appleyard duckling.

Brooder #2: 1 pair of goslings, 2 silkie ducklings, 2 WH ducklings, and 1 runner.

Thats for at night. Ducklings are outside during the day, cause they are so freaking big! Goslings wont go out in the play pen till they are at leased 2, 3 weeks old....

So tell me about your goslings guys! I'm so excited for mine, I can't even begin! Do any of you have some pics you can post? Baby geese are so darn cute!!
DG...why are you waiting till the goslings are 2-3 weeks old before letting them outside? They need grazing time, and exercise, and they start grazing within a couple days of hatching. A couple days after hatching, I take them out for supervised grazing time. At a week or so, they are spending the day outside and only coming in at night. By 2 wks, they are way too big for my inside brooders and are switched to outside accommodations. But that's just me, and my temps this time of year allow for it. The geese grow big very fast!

Ok...so I caved and checked the 3 eggs under the broody...all 3 have internally pipped and are all over in the eggs and chirping. We are very dry outside, extremely low humidity right now, so I brought them in. Made tiny holes in the tops of the eggs, and monitoring them now. 3 more Call babies coming!! Woohoo!

Oh I'm sure the girls are ticked now...they have no eggs to sit on. Unless I want to grab the 2 out from under the silkie and stick under them, lol.

Well, I mean unsupervised. I only have 1 day time pen right now... And its the ducklings. Wouldn't fit 4 baby geese, and 10 ducklings. I will be letting them graze 6 or 7 times a day till then.... for about 20 minutes each time, and I also have grass and veggies offered 24/7.... even for the ducklings. They seem happier when I do that for them

Celtic is sending a care sheet with them, so I should be OK

Hey guys, my cayuga and ancona breeding pairs are 16 weeks old, so I want to set each of them up in their own area for eventual breeding. What would be an ideal size yard as well as pen to close them up at night? Also, how far removed do they need to be from the other ducks/drakes? Thanks for your help!
