Went back out to check and I'm starting to get worried. No. 1 seems miserable, but got up and walked to the water bowl for a drink with the others. But when the others went to follow me back to the house but No. 1 laid down as the flock walked away. So, I picked No. 1 up and carried him back to the garage with the others following behind. I have him penned in garage with his 3 buddies, but left the ganders outside. They can guard the garage entrance, if they want.

Not sure what else I can do for him?

So there are no open wounds ?

He looks to have a minor puncture on upper side of neck and right side under belly, like where a keel would be. I gave him a good hand feel over and carefully checked for blood or something, but I can't find anything like an open wound. The only evidence of blood that I can find were a couple of splatter marks on the white feathers in between legs. He is drinking and moving ok in the pen right now.

I would just suggest some electrolytes or even some diluted small amount of Antibiotic in the water. But thats what I would do, but I am probally wrong

Iain, so sorry about the dog running loose. #1 is bruised from the bite, and punchers take forever to heal. Listen for wheezing or gurgling, make sure he is eatting well and drinking. Swim therapy to help keep clean. Will take some effort, but digging through the down will eventually show the injury.

Sadly you need to report this dog attack. It's a dog at large attack on livestock incident. They need to be made aware that the dog running loose, and breaking into your pasture isnt acceptable.

He is definitely punctured underside by leg and still bleeding. He was resting in corner of pen and I disturbed him just now. When he got up, there is a quarter sized area of blood on shavings. Not sure if I should attempt first aid or go inform neighbors that I should take bird to vet, but it will most certainly cost a few hundred dollars on a holiday weekend.

can someone catch me up please, i have been stuck in my bed since yesterday afternoon feeling very under the weather, i think i may have asthmatic bronchcitis, but i have to wait till tuesday to see the doctor

If he has an active bleed, they should be covering his medical care. Holiday weekend or not, if the dog bit another dog or child they would be covering the costs. Your gosling should be no different. Punctures are normally left open to heal, but bleeding should be looked at. Being a Sunday, animal control around here wouldn't respond, but the sherriff sure would. A report to document the attack will help you make sure his care is covered.

What has me worried is that there is still bleeding 3 hours later. If it were my dogs or horses, I'd be trekking them to the vet for a shaving of area, proper cleaning and surface antibiotics. If this were one of my dewlaps, I'd already be at the vet's. But my husband is looking at me like I've completely lost my mind to be talking this way about one of the africans.

But, I'll go talk to the neighbors now.

Well if you don't treat it, and he goes down hill and dies slowly it's a risk you have to be willing to take. The neighbors need to know you own the land, it's fenced and their dog running loose on it isn't acceptable. 1 goose today, could be all of the ducks next.
