I agree. I mix ducks all the time. As long as there is sufficient space per duck, there won't be carnage most of the time. I've had the odd plucker now and then, but I think it was a nutrition issue. Once totally on pasture, they are fine. (of course, once they are 2 months old, problem ducks become freezer birds.)
i did it i finally convinced hubby we should get turkeys! we are just getting plain old white ones to test the waters this year and if all goes well we will go herritage next year!
If you want Bourbon Reds, I will have eggs soon. I also am going to keep another heritage breed (maybe SweetGrass)
My turkeys don't smell..... We pick them up all the time & have them sit in our lap.
I think someone on here said there turkeys smelled like vomit ... You are doing it all wrong ~ QUIT giving them tequila to drink .......
When you Brine your turkey it needs to be culled first!

And it's ok to be the crazy duck lady. I'm already getting known as the crazy goose lady around here, but all of my neighbors fortunately love geese (and animals in general).

I've still got a few keepers in the brooder. But I feel a desperate need to put more eggs in the bator. Even though I said I was going to stop. And even though I have 54 chicken eggs and 80 duck eggs in various stages of progress. Those three open slots in my turner keep calling to me!
I guess I must have been more successful on the last angel wing wrap job. I just did it yesterday, and its all still in place. And he only pooped on me 4 times in the process.
