Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Okay, just talked to the vet. She thinks the actual impaction is further down and that it had just backed up into the crop. They didn't get much out except a lot of fluid, a little grass and...are you ready for this? Feathers!!! The little brat probably did it when she was being mean to the other babies. She is the wing biter I was talking about. She wants to see her back tommorrow. She sent her home with special food and more meds. More tomorrow. Thanks guys, You've really made me feel better. I tend to make myself miserable with my negativit. You've all been so supportive.

Kevin, What kind of geese babies do you have? They look like Toulouse. It only takes about 5.5 seconds to be attached to them. You're already a goner.

Jaz, What kind of pups did you sell? Post us some pics. I love pups.

Janet, After talking to you last night I hardened my resolve. I had a mean talk with DH today and he saw it my way. He will still gripe, but he knows when to give in.

Dutch, I went on a ride in Zion national park one time and it was on my list of all time greatest experiences. You should definately take some trips to Utah. It's beautiful there. I like your new horse too. My mother always said, and I qoute: "Shannon thinks that if a horse is grey, it has NO Faults". And you now she was right!
I raise White Chinese and had a Brown Chinese from my original geese. She wasn't suppose to ever go broody on their eggs

but sneaky little girl built a nest the week I was sick and I didn't have the heart to take them away. And Yes it really is that easy to get attached. Those faces

It's raining

. They are all underneath Bruce and have shelter but should I still be concerned?

That is absolutely remarkable! I bet they can come up with something that will work for Spirit....then you will have a bionic horse, and a bionic goose! lol

I am convinced it will be of great help to her. I am doing an experiment today of keeping her club vet-wrapped. So far, no more problems getting up from laying position.

Good on ya!! I was super pleased to see the report that DH helped your gosling out!!

You kept three!?! I've gotta show this post to my hubby, to prove that I am not crazy. When I had four dogs he thought that was excessive.

We have 4 dogs and I think it is a bit excessive.

Thanks for the reassurance IU! I'm trying to trust Bruce's instinct but I have control problems

I understand. LOL Canadian geese, and a great many other geese, mangage this all the time. At least they're in Texas and not in Alaska or Minnesota for a nice crisp 40* rain.
Yes they are truly tough little creatures. A local lady sells Canadians.... I shouldn't.... I shouldn't....I probably will

Hey Quackers, did you sell those pretty chicks? Are your silkie eggs' air cells dipping?? How many are still going??

Sue, how's Fred and her babies doing? Julie said you guys were getting her gander. So happy for you, Julie and especially the gander .

Shannon, oh no!! How terrible!! Please keep the updates coming!!
The chicks went down the road to a friends house. Knew it, she came for her ducklings and couldn't resist.

Got five silkie eggs left. Three look more promising than the others.

Fred, Ethel and kids taken yesterday... She's only got 3 of the 5 hatched but these appear to be healthy She's a geat mom for being her first year... Ethel was clumsy and not watching where he walked the first few days but he's much better now. I'll be glad when I can let all of them hang out as one flock

front to back Squishy (3 months) Baby (2 months) and Julie's Elvis (4 months) btw Elvis thinks Baby is just awesome and him and Squishy are buddies

Halloween (gray 7 week old) is from Fred and Ethel's eggs and Dora (5 weeks) from the Embden eggs Jerry bought

Squishy's favorite game... grab Mom's keys if your not getting attention

I tend to have them clipped on a belt loop

Good luck on the shoes for Spirit... I'm usually staying caught up on here but not on long enough to really chat...
I've got Sumatra chicken eggs in the bator

So whats new with everyone else?

I called the vet from work, she has agreed to flush the crop on my little girl. My DH is taking her over there for me. I am so happy but I'm very scared at the same time. Wish us luck!!!

I hope your little girl is feeling better and that the meds help.
Thanks for the reassurance IU! I'm trying to trust Bruce's instinct but I have control problems
