i know the poults are crazy cute! I have been thinking about the nighttime pen because i feel they could use more room they have just over half of the shed (the shed is about about 8x8 i think maybe 10x10)

My sweet innocent little touslouse/duck/turkey flock has been sneaking over to a neighbors house and pooping all over their yard. They called today, its been going on 2 days. ((LOL)) so anyway, they are nice neighbors, so I've just spent the last few hours with DH putting up a 30 x 60 pen under the shade trees for the little huligans. Its only temporary, as we're waiting for fenceing I've ordered to come in to finish fencing off an acre of yard just for our newly beloved geese. The three ducks are going to be integared into the selected pens, as they are egg khakis form a duck egg family up north.
The mother of these 3 (out of 12 shipped) Khakis laid 325+ eggs last year. Then, I'm going to clear out some khakis from the lessor pens and see how the anconas do as layors. (In another month Lucky should start to lay)![]()
Thanks he is such a sweetie and my favorite by far! I litterly squealed with excitement when i saw him do the nasty, i was just thinking about asking when he would show interest when i rounded the corner the thatx2. Scotch has grown into quite the handsome boy too.
Yes they are! What breed are they??i know the poults are crazy cute! I have been thinking about the nighttime pen because i feel they could use more room they have just over half of the shed (the shed is about about 8x8 i think maybe 10x10)
Khakis do lay very very well, outlays chickens all year (with a small light at night in a closed shed/pen/sheltor to keep a.m. eggs from freezing for an hours until you get them) with greator gardiness, and requiring less food than similar weighted chickens. Of course, the eggs aren't as big as a mature australorp/orphington/barred rock etc, they are more a medium to large egg, and they are tinted a slight olive/green hue which is only pale enough to make them look a big dingy. Taste great though, and cook up perfect cakes, quiches, and quick breads.lol my ducks that i use to have were doing that for a while, these little sweeties do not wander that far and we put up a fence ( we had been meaning to just did it faster) WOW that is amazing, i know KC were good egg layers but that crazy!
