Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

She was last on BHY 6.5 days ago, and last on hatch day 3 weeks + ago. I don't remember when the fires broke out.

Umm.... Celtic, you just reminded me about those pics.

Guess I'd better go do that now. Excuse me, please.

love the butt shots, those with the grey on them will molt most off it off completely and be visually white. So you have your two whites and the other pair we sold you, how is the one you hatched? Are they sleeping with the youngest yet?

These are all grey

This is a full sister to one we sold you, she will loose all of the grey before she is done, they might be one or two hidden spots of grey since whites mask color to begin with.

This is a splash, thought i had a current of her but cant find it. Shows the color mix well though before her feathers grew in.

You mean I won't have any color sebbies at all?

Samantha (the white I hatched) is back with the toulouse. They didn't like her or want her, and she was terrified and cried all the time. I'm gonna try again in a month or two when everyone is divided, and the sebbies get the barn condo with the south facing rock garden (with semi-blocked wind) for the winter. I figure everone will be a little unhappy, so it'll be a good time to just make other changes. Why be miserable an extra while?

Glad you like the shot of flight. Cute little geese though. DH likes to to "talk" to the white gander who is very brave and is very vocal. They fuss at each other whenever they are both outsdie.

Sounds like competing tribes.

Okay I need everyone to weigh in on this with their opinion:

The gosling isn't showing any improvement. It can not walk at all and is not beginning to have pasty butt. I've had it on Niacin and Vitamin E for exactly a week today with no improvement at all.

Do I keep trying or should I go ahead and cull?

All of my ducklings are doing good.

Even the little guy who hatched after being thrown out absorbed his yolk sac and you can't even tell he hatched looking really gross. After he hatched, I pondered whether we should even give him a chance or not because it looked so bad.

He is so funny! Has the best personality out of the whole group. He's half the size of everyone else, but he acts like he is the biggest duckling of all! He does whatever he wants. Acts like a little king.

The two who were in shackles sitting in cups for 3 days are doing great. My mom let them swim and exercise every day so they had a very fast recovery. They are both out of the shackles. Their splayed legs are fixed and curly toes are fixed too. They still haven't "perfected" the whole walking idea, but they can keep up with everyone else so I am not worried.

10 happy healthy ducklings alive and well. 2 ducklings died, 2 never hatched, and 1 in the hatching process.

I will post some pictures some day when I get free time. Very busy right now as I am about to have my graduation/open house party this Friday. (I think some of my guests are more excited to see the ducklings instead of me lol)

Good luck from Ohio,

-Dominic

Well, here is a pic of them running away.

I got out, and DH had allready let them out to run the front yard, so off they were. DIdn't seem interested in posing. I'll try again tomarrow.

They look all grown up!! Now.... where are the dewlap pics?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'll get them tomarrow, Iain, and more pics of everyone I guess. The toulouse are still sweet, but they are turning into real geese, and don't love mama as much as they did. Now that they are in a big pen, I don't go find them 3 or 4 times a day to walk them to the water, and talk to them. They still seem interested in greeting me, but nobody wants to be petted anymore. Samantha (the sebbie) doesn't trust me now that I've caught and moved her. I'm off her A list for sure.
