Hey Marty, we meet alot on here in passing.Hi Miss lydia![]()
That is interesting about the eggs, I've never had eggs shipped to me or sent any, but I can see where it would be a rough trip to send through the mail;. vsounds like you have your work cut out for you making the breeding pens and getting everyone in their proper one. Are you planning on selling goslings and ducklings too? and you'll have to post a pic of your eggs when your girls start to lay it sounds very pretty, Now that i get blue eggs from my EE's I'd like another color to go with them.Good to see you!![]()
Well, Today I bought some Mottled Javas and Dark Brahma chicks. I also got 5 BCMs from the same lady. I just want a pretty egg basket, I admit. They show their birds though (not the BCMs, which I only want for super dark eggs) so my kids will probobly mess with the javas and brahmas for 4H.
We're building new fences and making winter buildings for the birds. Hard to believe that breeding season starts here in another 4-5 monthes. I'd rather make the pens and be ready to seperate flocks the first of February. 6 pens for geese (far apart), 3 pens for breeding ducks, and 4 pens for chickens. I'm planning to sell my eggs on EBAY. Maybe I can teach a few of them the proper way to pack and ship fresh hatching eggs. I've been saving lots of tiny boxes and wrapping material. I like the idea of each egg wrapped small end down in its own box, then lots of packaging top, bottem and sides, to protect the little boxes too. Seems like NOT labeling them as eggs makes the trip safer.
Celtic must be on holiday. I get blue and beige and one of my EE's is laying an off pink colored egg. But I'd love some really dark chocolate eggs, isn't that Blk copper marans? also some olive eggers? thinking one of getting Austrolorps not sure what color egg they lay. since it will be further down the road for them. So many different breeds and so many shades of beige. LOLI'd like some blue eggs!!!!! I get white and brown now. The birds I've ordered lay little cream eggs, spotted eggs, and more brown eggs. I need pink or blue or green! I was hoping my Anconas would lay blue eggs, but so far just pale tinted hint of blue/green. Hint. Little hint. I want a pretty pretty egg basket too!
I've thought about hatchlings, but I think it would take more than the NPIP testing. However, I'll ask Celtic, who is sure to know.
CELTIC- What all tests do my birds need to ship goslings or ducklings or chicks? Is NPIP for all parents good enough?
Quote: I used to keep black australorps, and I loved them. Their eggs are medium to med. dk. brown. One of them had spotted eggs, like the brahmas I'm gettig will have.![]()
Adorable. I love EE's they come in so many pretty colors.
I love how this EE chick is feathering out. Those white feathers on the dark chick are neat looking. The duckling on the right is Bumble, she's starting to feather in and starting her ugly phase lol. Today was babies first day out, and they are loving it. Of course, they stop playing when I peek in on them except for bumble. She doesn't see me so keeps right on zipping around.![]()
This EE chick is Zombie, the one left in the nest and acting dead when I got her out of the egg. She has got some really long tail feathers.
