doing good, learning what night pen/house is theirs

The ducks will need to learn that soon as we will have 2 pens of ducks and one of Muscovies. As weird as the "scovies look I'm really warming up to their personalities.

Hows things your way? Not looking forward to the freezing temps.

Hey guys, long time no chat with on this thread.

Glad everyone is doing well. Weird that muscovies are hard to find in some places as they are a dime a dozen here. They are worth the effort to locate and add to your group, though. I love my muscovy girls. FYI, they march to their own drummer and do not hang out with my other ducks.

I'm tired of freesing mornings. 3 down, 2 to go.

We have modest heating systems here, in the interest of efficiency and being cheap about it, so its a little cool inside too. Havn't got everything on and going yet. I don't suppose I can hope for a winter as mild as last years.

Told DH we need a woodburing insert for our fireplace.

Morning Iain!

I should go take pics today, but its been bloody cold and I have bad arthritus, so if I'm doing chores and didn't bring the camera, I'm not going back for it.

To the great joy of the waterfowl, we've let the ducks and geese all into the pool area for a few days. The ducks are loving the new space to dig up snails burrowing under stuff, and the geese are giving the lawn a last loving trim while its still green back there (on the south side of the garage and barn). Oh, and they get a big pool for just a few days. We'll drain it as soon as ice starts to form. Then, everyones out!

Oh, I did get the neccessary decorating done for the parlor. Its a good thing, since the communnity theatre rehearsed there on thursday, and will be rehearsing their again nov.1.

Good Morning, Marty. I understand freezing cold and forgetting cameras. Thank goodness our weather is much better now... hope to see all the snow still on the ground disappear by midday. I bet your crew was happy to explore the property. Glad to hear your redecorating went well... shag carpets, brown panels, and dropped ceilings is very dark and gloomy feeling. Yuck.

Well, its still there, but the rug is under a more lively oriental rug now (ok, fake oriental, could afford a 16 x 18 real one!) The horrible panels are there too, but we've got some bright art up on it now, and we recovered the great and comfy but (sigh) orange and green couch and chair with good slipcovers, in a nice normal patriotic blue. So, with the little "facelift" I can stand to be in there, and not mortified. We'll be working on it properly next summer, removing the lowered ceiling, the panels, the carpet, fixing up plaster walls and refinishing/repairing hardwoo floor. Restoring the ceiling (still a mystery). The rooms redeeming features are 6 8" x 3" windows to the (brr) north, east, and west. Oh, and its got a fireplace, but I'm scared to use it, so we're looking for an electric "fireplace look" heater to insert into it. I just don't like open flame in a 136 year old wood frame house. Scary.

It sounds improved... but I'd still probably take a can of paint to the wood panel walls. I can't stand dark walled rooms.... light and bright is more cheery.

Oh, I agree completely, and we've talked about it, but decided to just tough it out a year. Besides, I'm getting sick of painting. You have to prime it first, but since the primer is bright white, that would in and of itself be a nice change.

We went to our first poultry show (as poultry owners lol). We learned a lot, and can't wait until spring. Hopefully I'll be showing serama's then, and my dd her d'uccles. Her d'uccles, are looking very pretty, especially with all the leaves around lol.

I got a few more serama chicks Saturday too, so I have 5 now. And more eggs coming this week.

There are 2 that are 4 days old, 2 11 days old, and 1 5 weeks old. Love them!
