Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Cold this morning. Sandy gave us wind and rain, and now baking cold temps in on us. Lows in the 40's tonight, which is crazy. Birds are loving it though.

Julie sounds like you had a great time at the show. I ad D'uccles in Mille Fluer and Porcelain, they were tough little buggers.

Hi Everyone!

I'd like to visit a poultry show around here. Not many of them that are non 4H. Maybe I just don't know the right people.

Celtic, glad to hear your DH is willing so sell me some nice muscoveys.

We went to our first poultry show (as poultry owners lol). We learned a lot, and can't wait until spring. Hopefully I'll be showing serama's then, and my dd her d'uccles. Her d'uccles, are looking very pretty, especially with all the leaves around lol.

I got a few more serama chicks Saturday too, so I have 5 now. And more eggs coming this week.

There are 2 that are 4 days old, 2 11 days old, and 1 5 weeks old. Love them!
The Seramas are so great for kids.

I have another pair shipping from FL today. I'm very excited to get them. It's always nerve wracking having birds shipped, though. I hope they make it OK.

Good luck with the shipping. We aren't sending or receiving anything until next week to allow the hurricane delays/cancelations to clear up.

You know, I should probably check on that. We agreed on shipping today before the weather situation came up. Is it still bad down there? I was thinking that it had already blown over FL. I suppose there's a backlog regardless.

Sounds like normal missouri weather, lol. Minus the rain this year, lol. Glad you guys didn't get any real nasty weather there.
I hope the d'uccles are tough little things. Being dd's chickens they need to be, lol. She likes to love on them a lot.

How close are you to Hutchinson? They have a spring show on the state fairgrounds I believe, plus one during the fair. I'm hoping to go to one there next year. It's really fun, so many different pretty birds to see.

The serama's are for me.

Lol, and dd once she gets bigger, but she likes her d'uccles for now. It is nerve wracking with shipping, I'm glad I was able to find a good breeder with some available that was attending the show.
Pics when you get yours!

Haha...they are great for big kids, too. I just love their attitude and all the different colors.

Me too. It's so cute how they have that little serama pose at a week old even.

I want to go to the poultry show in Hutchison now!

There is also a quarterly auction for strange animals around here somewhere. I could probobly find Emu!
I want to go to the gardner auction, and there's another too somewhere isn't there? Would love to get another species of duck.
