Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Marty we have mini nubians, perfect little goats who dont jump and escape like the dwarfs and others are prone to. Our buck is brand new and we bottle raised him this year.Hoping for good kids out of them.

The BMC project is complete for him and science research, so his flock is being sold off. Sold two hens 3 weeks ago, have a rooster and 1 or 2 hens to sell as a group. Will keep one hen in our eating egg flock just for the color.

How much for the BCM trio?

I think I shall have to go research mini nubians. I did have a LaManca for a bit, but she was unusually clumsy, and fell to her death from the goat building. 9 goats before her did fine, but not the one expensie registered goat.

will ask him before school what his trio is priced at.

The minis are nice goats. Our buck is an F1 boy and very nicely built. We bred him to our Nigerian girls in hopes of our own first F1 babies. They are pricey to locate nice ones, just like all stock.

This is our boy from earlier this year. Need to update his picture

I was just researching them. So, they are a cross between a Nubian and a dwarf nigerian. You sort of answered a question, your going to breed your F1 hybrid male to your nigerians, expecting an even smaller version? So I guess like with other things, an F1 to and F1 is all over the place, or are folks working on stablizing a breed here? I found does withen 3 hours in my state for $300-400, for some does, and some doelings born last Feb. Someone is offering 2 doeslings, 1 doe, and an unrelated male for them for 1G. Is this fairly normal pricing? I used to pick up bottle doelings for under $100, but they were full sized and unregistered. I also paid almost $500 for a registered LaMancha from star milker lines.

Hi Everyone!

I got rid of my three BCM cockerals, I couldn't sell them unfortunately so I ended up giving them to the kid that works at our local feed store. I might end up giving the kid one of my muscovy drakes too since I haven't been able to sell him for months and I keep dropping the price.

Pip(SFH) my first bator hatched chick is outside with Squeek the RIR and Q the BCM pullet. I have been letting them run around with the ducks. I am pretty sure Pip is a hen

.

Curly(SFH) the chick that hatched fist footed is doing better, he still has curled toes so now I am trying splinting the to middle toes to Q-tip sticks cut to fit the length. I have also been giving him vitamin supplements.

The rest of my chicks are doing well. One of the older SFH chicks I am pretty sure is a boy because he is a bit bigger and has a larger comb that the other SFH chic of the same age.

Here are the BCMs and Squeek(RIR)

Pip

Curly is the little one at the bottom. The big one on the right I am pretty sure is a boy. I love the color combos of the swedish flower hens!

Marty those are pretty normal prices for the breed. It has been worked on for a very long time, we have no good lines near us, so crossing and starting my own is what I am attempting.

DS said $30 each for his hens and $20 for big boy the roo.

Above is the roo, he is even larger now and is boss roo of the flock for sure.

Darkest eggs on the right are recently laid and freshly washed in that picture.

Hmm, could swear I posted on here last night. Was pretty tired, must have not clicked submit when I was done.

Christine- Hope you have better luck with the serama eggs now. If you want, in spring when mine have started laying we could trade some eggs if you want. Mine are from 2 different people. And the person I got mine from locally made sure to give me chicks from all unrelated pens.

Marty- I'd love to see some pics.

And I see mini nubians a bit on KC craigslist. Not too many now, but quite a few in spring. The doelings have been $75-200, I haven't seen many adults. I see mini lamanchas too, I think they are in the 1-2 generation stage of those.

Celtic- Love that goat. Their ears are so adorable. And that is one cute group of ducklings with all those different colors and spots.

Wulf- Cute sfh! The different colors are pretty.

12 bunnies growing out right now, 4 mommas bred. 2 goats pregnant and our female pyr is coming into heat (

she doesnt try and kill the male this time)

Geese are starting to breed, we are 2.5 weeks away from breeding pen set up and flock separation.

oh and the aviary seems to be in full swing of bonded pairs, time to put their nest boxes in.

feels like we just finished this madness and yet here we are gearing up and setting up all over again.

Super cute ducklings, Celtic! It's so weird to me that you are gearing up for breeding season. Spring seems so far away to me...

Goats are so funny. I would get a couple to help eat blackberry vines, but my dog would terrorize them, I think.

I hope so! I don't know if I'm going to bother with shipped Serama eggs anymore, but maybe... We'll have to talk about it in the spring.

My LaMancha was a little thing, but I've never heard of minis. They are allready one of the smallest full sized goats. Hmmm.... I have every intention of getting two goats, one at least who has milked before, and maybe a youngster this spring. I really like to space out matings a few monthes, and always have fresh milk. I love making cheese. :D
