Also, got a light on your birds? How old are the non layers?
No light, I don't mind letting them rest for a little while. If I still have no eggs in a few weeks they might get a few extra hours. I have 3 pol pullets, oldest is about 33weeks youngest 19 weeks, and 6 hens, 5 have already molted. Next year I may rethink this and provide light until mid november, just to give me enough eggs to make cookies and pumpkin bread and everything for the holidays. The 2 actually laying are my silkie x hen (who is over 2, and resumed laying within 3 weeks of having her chicks taken and less than 2 weeks after she began molt!) and one of the call pullets, who has laid steadily 5-6 eggs a week since august. Not the 2 I would expect, but at least I have some eggs to cook with even if I have none to hatch.Well, glad to know your on the right thread. Those brahmas are huge! I've had light breed large fowl and bantams for so long now I forgot just how BIG some chickens can be. When we went to the show, my jaw just about dropped seeing some of them.Turned ours back on in October will run full time till next June now. Was a nice three months off, now back to work. Have SA ducks locking down today, muscovy momma hatching some in her nest today. New Light Brahma and Cream legbar eggs arrive this week.
