My understanding is Buckeyes where developed separately but then shown as RIR but the body type is different, at the same time RIR had a few Pea Combs, and Buckeyes had SC popping up so they sort of absorbed each other and then split. Buckeye is the only American Breed developed by a women.

The first crosses I'll be doing. Will be butchering tomorrow, & hopefully I can set up the prefab coop so I can start separating hens, I need soon.

Malay X Sumatra

Sumatra X CrackerFowl

Malay X Easter Egger

Malay X Throw Back pullet

Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock X Sumatra

Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock X Malay

Only gonna use the Malay hens that are laying extra large eggs, & the biggest Malay Roosters.

Some of these crosses will be done both ways(Maybe, haven't decided), like the Malay X EE. It'll be done Malay Rooster over EE hen, & Easter Egger Rooster over Malay hen. (Have the feeling it'll create more eggs then I can fit in my incubator.)

I may stick to single way cross right now for the first round.

I may do the friend's chicks with broodies, so I have incubator space. Hopefully I have some broodies by that time.

The planned crosses look interesting, can’t wait to see how they hatch out and mature… I have to wait and see if I get any Roos in the live chick order or from hatching eggs.

I really hope I get at least 1 pullet and cockerel from both batches of hatching eggs, but you know how it goes. The live chicks might have a Saipan or Egyptian boy but again who knows with straight runs.

Same.

Yep.

Butchering all 14 birds today.

Plus, I'm moving my Heritage Plymouth Barred Rocks over to the other coop. Doing some rearranging of birds.

10/14, Butchered. Dad added one of his roosters to the list, so an extra to be butchered tomorrow also.
