Ticks? What would you call this? Any treatments?

First my dogs had this and now my chickens have this.

These ecto parasites are very tiny maybe a mm long.But they are bigger than mites.They are mostly brown in color.On my dogs they simply hang on around the face and any open skin on their belly.On my chickens they were on around the face, wattles,and comb.To me they remind me of ticks because they hang on to the skin and just hold on.It is extremely hard to pick them off literally without hurting the bird and they are multiplying very fast.

Anyone know what this is and any treatments I could use?

Are you saying they are the same thing as what your dog has? Do you have a pic?

Try garlic oil. I have just discovered an organic mite killer....GARLIC OIL. see my post....works great....I bet it will kill your bugs too!

yes garlic oil can help but I doubt it is enough if these are a blood sucking type of tick... if it were me I would use an ivermectin topical .1 or .2% solution and treat topically but I live in europe and I can purchase that at my petstore. If you have access to another ivermectin or ivomec Eprinex try that ( dilute and then soak a cotton bal in it and apply to the effected area)

You might consider getting a couple guineas if You have a problem on your property with ticks... I understand they are a great control measure
And once you have the immediate problem taken care do try the garlic oil... here in holland it is also known to help in management measures to keep them away (not as a treatment) > my friends coop smells like a pizzaria!!!

Gunieas would be nice.I've been looking for a while but no one seems to have the here in Hawaii.I'll try both and see if it works.
Is the garlic oil just rubbed on where the ticks are?

Sounds to me possibly like stick-tight flea. Do they look like dried blood?
