The best, and I found safest way to remove a tick with it's head still attached is vaseline. Smother it in vaseline, it will back out. Then snag it with some tweezers, and burn the sucker with a match, lighter, blow torch, whatever you have handy.
Before you go outside...wear long pants, long sleeves, tuck the bottoms into your socks, some folks even duct tape them, and spray yourself with deep woods off, or cutter.

I've had lyme disease from those disgusting creatures. I hate them, and now take every precaution possible to make sure I NEVER get it again.

Yup you need more pest controll birds , also if you dont want to use insect repplent that has pestcides or what not , One thing I have used that works fairly well is the Original skin so soft body oil from avon , I still get the occasional mosqeto bite but I have gone camping in places known to have a tick problem (dont ask

) and didnt get a single one on me , You can also clear youre property a littl emore where long sleeves and such like was stated by someone else Make shure to spray whatever it is on youre neck , behind youre ears ect , they can fall out of trees into youre hair and find some place yummy where you dont normally bug spray .
I was a dog groomer once and It was always icky when a dog came in and had a tick or two but I remmber a few dogs that would come in and have 30+ ticks from small to swollen the size of grapes it made my skin crawl for days .

On one side you have a little noise and possibley the need for ear plugs
On the other side you have creepy crawlly desise spreading blood suckers

I dont think it would be a hard choice for me
