I am at a loss. Wth are these spots? Between shell and membrane. Unwashed eggs not exposed to warmth. Kept in cold room or fridge. Hard boiled a dozen and a half. They have rather soft whites compared to any other time I boil. Very “tender” fragile whites. About half have these spots. No odor. Eggs otherwise look and smell fine. All from the same chickens as always. Safe? No?

Are they hard or soft? Brittle or squishy? The only time I've encountered spots on hard boiled eggs is from little blood spots, which aren't harmful. Have you opened a raw egg to see if you can find some there?
No I haven’t but good idea! They look like (with my bifocals) tiny mildew spots which seems crazy. I will check a few raw ones in the morning.

I've seen a few posts with these mildew looking spots before, and I don't think anyone's ever figured out exactly what it is.
Yep, have seen this several times on BYC,
and a local had them on a friends eggs once too.
Nope, never figured it out.
