Tiny black spots...

Are you absolutely sure that the black flakes didn't get there after you opened the egg and put it into the dish? Black pepper perhaps? Or something in the dish before you cracked the egg into it?
 
Have you thought about contacting your state veterinarian? He/she probably would want to see your pictures.
Didn’t know there was such a thing lol. Thought about the extension office though.
Is it possible the egg could've had a tiny crack in it before you cooked it? Maybe??? Heck I don't know... I'm grasping at straws here :confused:
I don’t believe so. Those are pics of three different eggs of about 8-9 in total. After seeing it in several eggs, I checked the first ones closely to make sure I had not missed any others like that. Then checked each of the remaining eggs’ exteriors for clues. The ones with spots looked no different from the ones without. I wondered if perhaps when we had a strange burst of 60F days in the middle of our 20-30F weather if I had missed getting an egg or two...but not 8! Or if the several hens laying in the wee hours had layed so early the eggs near froze. And then, with multiple hens preferring the same box, the cold then warm then cold had caused a “mildew” from somewhat of a condensation effect? But...between the shell and membrane? Sheesh I am just lost here lol
 
Might be worth a try, considering MSU has a vet school, but don't think there is much poultry focus there.
They do have a pretty good Farming/AG program too. Nothing ventured nothing gained though, right? Or perhaps they can at least point me in the direction of someone who can give more info.

I searched online snd came up with a published bulletin from a book that described in part what I thought as well as the “tiny holes” or cracks theory also suggested...kind of as a coexisting cause.
 
MSU started as an AG college...waaayy back when.

Have seen the holes/cracks thing...but what organism got thru to turn black?
Or maybe a chemical/water reaction...from the water and/or the pan?
Can't remember if the spots have been seen in raw eggs, I don't think do.

Yup my dad farmed (dairy) most of my childhood. Ho took classes through MSU.

I keep forgetting to pop a few raw eggs open to check but I guess I assumed the spots would be less precisely shaped if it were pan/boil related. More a discoloration than dots.

I will try to remember to get into a few raw ones today though!

Wonder if it is a chemical reaction during boiling + existing cracks or other shell issue, because from what I can recall every single time this comes up, it's always a photo of a boiled egg and the spots are revealed when peeling the shell.
