I hatched two call ducklings two weeks ago and one of them has just not seemed to grow. She eats and drinks and is pretty active, but not as much as the other one. I’ve tried giving her some egg for extra nutrients but I’m just wondering if there is something else I should be doing. She is very friendly and loves to be held.

Hey there, Welcome to the forum!

At first glance i thaught it was a regular duckling and a call duckling, like someone snuck an egg in someone elses nest. But that is small even for a call duckling

Are they the only two you are raising right now? Make sure shes getting to the feed and water, sometimes the bigguns wont let the littluns eat

B complex vitamins are great for ducklings
when i hatch 2 at a time i just use pharmacy liquid B vitamin complex

But most folks use the more concentrated stuff for animals

If shes still doing well you can sprinking nutritional brewers yeast on their food its packed with vitamins and nutrients

We are all pulling for you and your little babies
Goodluck!

Scrambled egg is also good to offer. My ducklings loved scrambled egg and got it everyday along with their feed. Just be sure to give them a small bowl of chick grit when offereing anything other than their feed. I had lost 2 Runner ducklings to shipping stress and was getting close to losing the other 2 and started offering scrambled egg and they made a complete turn around. Such precious little ones you have there. :welcome

I don't know for sure how much they should weigh. . but are you positive the bigger one is a call duck? Is it possible it could be a mix?
The little one doesn't look too extremely small for 2 weeks I don't think.
But it's been a while since I had some call ducklings here to look at. I've slept since then. 😄

I’ve had some that were much smaller than others (although not as drastic a difference as yours!) Most of my smaller ones failed to thrive. But I had one that I expected to find dead for its first several months. It was just a tiny one and stayed that way.

I would maybe give some extra vitamins, and make sure it eats/drinks/poops and isn’t getting pushed out by the other ducks.

Do you have any pictures of two week olds to compare this one to? I have tons of pics but none where I remember what age they were.
