Tiny Cochin?? Is she unwell or an accidental bantam?Update: Pictures

This is my first time with chicks. They will be 3 weeks on Monday. The two cochins are smaller and less feathered than the other breeds(Austrolorp, Jersey Giant, Leghorn, Barred Rock, Red Star, Speckled Sussex) The other girls weigh close to 6 oz. and are very feathered and flying a little. Of the two cochins, the white weighs 4 1/2 oz and is just starting to feather, but the Partridge weighs 2 3/4 oz!!!!!! She is TINY. She eats and drinks and poops. The white cochin is layed back, but the partridge tiny gal is very very vocal. She is always peep peep peep and looking for someone? Mommy??? If she is eating and drinking and just not feathering and growing, is she in "failure to thrive". I ordered Standard breeds from My Pet Chicken, but could she have accidentally be a bantam??? What would a three week old bantam weigh? Would appreciate any help. She is just so CUTE! But my boys are starting to call her "Loudy" for her constant peeping.

Don't worry about it! Cochins are very slow to mature. It's intrinsic in the breed!

I have two six week old Black Cochins, and they are much smaller than the other four (other breeds) and they still have some of their chick down showing.

They should catch up soon!

This thread caught my eye because I have a Mille Fluer that is about 1/2 the size it should be.
I don't the answer to why but I want to suggest that you keep an eye on your little one....peeping all the time is not a good sign.
Usually when a chick is peeping constantly there is something wrong [too cold, too hot, hungry, thirsty, or there is something wrong with the chick that we can't fix that easy.
Wish you had pictures but then again I wish I had pictures also. My camera broke and I am lost without it.

Here is a picture of her. She is all fluff except for a few wing feathers. The other photo is of my Speckeld Sussex Emma, just to compare. Look at the others, so feathered, in the photo. They will be three weeks on Monday. So very different.

At 3 weeks and one day old, my tiny Partridge Cochin gal is up to 3 ozs. today, barely, and still peep peep peep peeeping all the time. So it is five days later, and she only gained a quarter of an ounce. By comparison, the other cochin(White) is 6 ozs today(having gained an ounce and a half), and the other chicks are mostly close to or are 7 ozs. She does have a few more wing feathers today, but other than that, nothing further in the "feathering out" department. She does not even have the feathery legs like the white Cochin does now, just fuzz. Are Bantams Cochins slower to mature than Standards? Can I keep her if she does turn out to be an "accidental" bantam, in with 11 standard chickens.
