Tiny duck egg

We are consistently getting this tiny egg, even smaller than a chicken egg. We have some new layers and every week we have another of last summers ducklings starting to lay. I figured after the first few she laid it would gain size but now coming up on a few weeks I’m wondering if the egg size won’t increase.

I don’t know which of my ducks is laying this egg, I suspect a runner but I would be completely wrong.

Has anyone had this same problem ?

I have had a girl last year who laid small eggs. This year, her eggs have been much larger, but still not huge eggs. My runners last year also didn't lay super larger eggs and they still are not the largest eggs, but they are bigger this year than last year.

I also noticed a change in my egg size with feeding. I use to feed my ducks two times a day, because I had a couple Pekin and they would overeat. My last Pekin is better at regulating herself now, so we feed ad lib now. That change led to slightly larger eggs from some of our ducks.

@Miss Lydia has more experience with runners and may have some other thoughts on it.

Thank you! That helps me a bit. We are getting 3 small eggs and we do have 3 runner hens so I’m thinking it’s them but who knows. I only feed them in evening when it’s time for them to be locked up. They forage all day long though and I judge how much to give them every night based on how much is left the next morning. If there’s a little in dish still I keep that same amount. Too much in dish I cut back a little, none left and I give them more

My Runners lay a fairly good size egg about the size of a large chicken egg. I do keep food out for mine during daylight hours because I don't know how much they're actually eating when foraging and Mine are always hungry. High metabolism I guess. I like to know they are getting adequate nourishment so their little bodies don't suffer.

Ok thank you for your feedback!
