Tiny Egg

I have never actually 'wormed' my chickens. I am scared of chemicals and products and such. I do give them Apple Cider Vinegar in their drinking water, and I have used D.E. in their bedding to prevent mites/parasites. I did use a dusting product in their scratching/bathing dirt once, but it scared me. They have seemed to stay very healthy, nonetheless.
If you were in some horrific accident and in terrible pain would a shot of morphine scare you?

Morphine both relives pain and dramatically lowers blood pressure. These two things keep you stabilized and prevent you from bleeding out and dying before you can be treated for your injuries.

Morphine is a much more dangerous chemical than those you are denying your chickens. However I bet that you would be screaming bloody murder if it or any similar drug was withheld from you or your children when any of you were in agonizing pain. I know that I would.

..... I wonder whether the rooster could have mated with her inside the coop and pushed her into something hard like wood or a brick, damaging her reproductive system?
I think that you need to better understand the mating process in chickens. A rooster seldom if ever penetrates, needs to penetrate, or even wants to penetrate a hen during mating. That would be the only way that he would push her around during mating. Chicken sex is not the brutal thing that most of us humans imagine.

Chickengeorgeto, I have researched and read the fine print about the chicken treating chemicals, and they can cause other problems. Also, if you treat for something they don't actually have, and I don't think they have worms, you are subjecting the chickens to chemicals needlessly, which is never a good idea. It can create new problems. If it's not broke, don't fix it! And, yes, morphine does scare me. I have known people who have gotten addicted to it in the hospital.

She is acting healthy, happy, and bright-eyed, Serenity. I hope you are right. She may just be done with laying. I have never owned her breed before, so who knows?

Chickengeorgeto, I have watched the rooster mate with the hens outside, and it does stress them. They run from him and could easily run into something in the small coop were he chasing them. I saw a different rooster that I gave away mate with Esther once and he was quite rough. That's when I knew he had to go. He had her down on a rock. She was okay, but it made me nervous. My current rooster is a good rooster, but I can tell the girls don't enjoy being pursued by him, the way they try to evade him.

Praise God! She seems to be fine. She laid a beautiful normal-sized egg today. I feel much better! Thanks, everyone, for your kind concern and helpful comments. You are The Best!

You are quite welcome. It looks like I'll still have plenty of eggs to dye for Easter. Hurray!
