Tis the Season... for Break Ins :'( UPDATE!! BUSTED!!!!!!!

Thanks everybody for your kind words. This has been quite an emotional ordeal. I come from a small town and have only been living in Sacramento for a month. This stuff just doesn't happen where I come from. Growing up we NEVER locked doors. We never had to worry about this sort of thing because there was no crime. I feel like a total fish out of water. I hate this town. I just have such a hard time understanding how a human being can do this to someone else. Especially during this time of year. It's devastating.

This is good information! I will see about going back and checking dumpsters.

The estimated cash value of my purse and everything in it totaled almost 2000$ (Including 1000$ in credit cards). So if this bugger gets caught (I know, yea right), it's a felony.

Robin they dont know that and if they remotly think that you have something that they might be able to sell for a crack rock they will. We just had a murder in our neighborhood this last weekend. Someone broke into an 80 some year old mans house and killed him. My neighborhood is an old neighborhood where people have lived for generations. We usually dont have any problems around here but this is way to close to home for comfort. I am afraid with the economy the way it is its only gonna get worse. Thats why I am getting my FOID card and a rifle.

Our neighborhood (The Elms) is an old neighborhood too and I'm seeing increased amount of AA folks walking around, crossing yards instead of staying on the sidewalk. I saw one guy entering that abandoned house across the street, he would walk up, around the house, and entered in side door where I can see him sitting here. He was in the house for at least seven to ten minutes, came out with nothing but as he walked away, he saw me watching him. He changed paths and walked north on the street. Saw something "notebook shaped" on his backside, under his sweats. He was as casual as he could be....seen him time to time, short cutting thru neighborhood but I am certain he lives about a block or two away.

We do have our rashes of break ins in garages and sheds in our neighborhood but never houses so far.

Too close for call, Sheila, and I would be very wary of strangers and if something does not look right, I would figure out how to call the cops. I know it would get worse and believe it or not, around Jasper Street, there are a few druggies doing the "hand" motions of money and drugs interchanging. It just sickens me and cops can only go so far in patrolling and downsizing the force dont help matters. I know a while back they did a drug bust in the low income area, another one will take over. I have no idea how to renew my FOID card, been two years and need new pic...would WalMart take pictures or do I need to bring in pictures to renew my FOID card? We have guns and rifles but will do me no good to load them up...they are CW reproduction black powder. However they can do damages to one's face...seen too many times when guns misfires, first and second degree burns, nasty! Better them than me. We will not get a dog, nor we have the time to devote for one unless we quit reenactments for good.

We had our van broken into three times, taking nothing but the faceplate of our CD player LOL! Worthless! Once hubby's truck broken into and took nothing, not even the CD.

However our shed got broken into...hubby's fault for not locking it up. I told him sorry bud, it is not like living out in the country anymore. You are in city now!

Hubby's bike got stolen while he was working inventory at Kmart....TWICE! It's sickening! Cops coulde not do anything but we could file it under our homeowners insurance. No thanks, no need to jack up our premuims.

yesterday DD got a phone call from Aydens night nurse (mark) .. someone broke into his car and stole a bag of clothes he keeps in his back seat. dd called he room mate and Aydens dad. the same person broke into both theire cars. got an mps player out of the roomates truck and tool $2 ans somodd cents in change and all of the cds mostly copies out DD boyfriends car. whaty is sad is these apartments have secuirity guard at night. where was secuirity guard when this happened? probably at the convienece store down the road. also dd called the leasing office about it and they told her its funny it was only your cars broken into.

I am sorry you are going through this. I just lost my phone yesterday, and was all upset over the lost pictures and videos on it.It is silly compared to your loss. Hope you were able to block all things(credit cards/checking) and change locks.

We had our house broken into this summer. Took our guns, laptop, cash, tools, etc. It is such an invasion of your privacy, you feel completely violated. Luckily, the guys that broke into our home were caught and we did get some of our stuff back. Since this is not a first offense for either of them so I hope they sit in jail a long time. Doubtful though...

I hope you are able to get everything taken care of without much financial burden.

Yes, I spent quite a while on the phone last night cancelling cards and closing accounts. Luckily I got to it before any charges were made. Thankfully, Jamison is a locksmith, and he re-keyed our house last night. So even if they manage to get into our gated community and find our house, they won't be able to get in without excessive force.

The only real concerns we have left are that they have the key to our brand new 2012 Mazda3

If they figure out where we live (I can't remember if I had anything with our address on it in my purse) they will easily be able to pick out the car and take it. We are going to contact the dealership today and see if we can have it re-keyed as well.

Identity theft is also a concern, but all they have is my name and my bank info. Unless they are incredibly diabolical, I don't think they will be able to do much.

*BTW: Sorry terrie
