Since it was 70+ degrees out today (have I mentioned already that I miss living somewhere with actual winter??) I moved the new chicks into the brooder. They enjoyed it!

Goodness I’m behind! Over 20 pages to catch up on here. Haha. I picked up my silkie eggs and into the incubator they went yesterday. :) candled the funny oblong Icelandic egg (day 3 because I just couldn’t help myself) and I’ve got development, so at least one of those eggs was fertile. Yay! Going to try to hold off touching anyone else til day 7... :wee

I have six silkie babies so far! I'm a bit worried about the three that came out of 30-gram pullet eggs (normal silkie egg averaged 52g), they seem excessively floppy? But they are still wet, so I'm trying to reserve judgement. One more silkie egg is internally pipped, and the other two eggs are definitely late quitters.

Three Ayam Cemani are internally pipped and cheeping, but they take so long to get out of the shell I wouldn't be shocked if they don't hatch until Weds....

Silkies are so darn cute! That fat chunker one I got makes me laugh so hard. It just plows the other chicks over šŸ˜‚

Post pics once they are fluffed

I am behind, wow! Hope everyone is having wonderful hatching luck. A few updates:

Only found 1 DIS in this coming weekend’s hatch so far. Hoping the rest make it to/through lockdown. Added 12 jubilee Orpingtons to the incubator last week. And on Friday, I added 20 button quail eggs! My first attempt at quail.

Emu egg update—we’ve got movers and shakers! I think.:idunno It’s a little tough telling for sure at first. I *think* eggs B, C, and D are wiggling. I believe egg A is a dud.

I also posted these in the emu forum, but... First video is egg B wiggling. Second video (turn vol. on!) is our laughing chicken’s response to my whistling at the emu egg. Everyone is a critic! :plbb
