Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

1 week and 6 days ago we put 22 eggs in our incubator.
2 silkie
1 polish (possibly would be polish and Vorwerk mix)
6 Ameraucanas
5 Olive Eggers
8 English Orpington eggs
We candled them last Monday and 17 out of 22 were developing. These were the ones developing....
2 silkie
1 polish
5 Ameraucanas
5 Olive eggers? (We couldn't see if there was a chick in there or not because the eggshell was so dark)
4 English Orpingtons (Our Orpingtons have been having some fertility issues latly because their so fluffy!)
They are due to hatch March 16th! We are going to candle them again tomorrow!:)
So we just candled the eggs tonight and the results were...
2 silkie
1 polish
4 Ameraucanas
5 Olive eggers? (still can't see bc the shell is so dark)
2 English Orpingtons
Are developing! They are now on day 14 so 1 week to go!:):fl:wee

I swear! You guys get left in here for a half a day and there are 12 pages to read... holy crap lol

@Rockporters hoping you get all of them to hatch! :fl

Deathlayers and Sebright/Silkie bantam crosses go into lock down tomorrow :D staggered hatch since the Silver Spitzhaubens are 5 days later. The Spitzhaubens air cells are garbage and will be surprised if any hatch.

With planting garlic, is it true you have to plant them prior to freezing? Fall to beginning of winter? Asking because my son and I are planting everything by seed in the raised beds and would like to do a half a bed of garlic. But will they thrive? Planted kale, cabbage, butter lettuce, beets, green beans, snap peas this last weekend. still have two huge beds to fill:th

Just waiting for the other half to get the new Kabota tractor this weekend... need to clear the spot in the pasture for corn and sunflower seeds, wood chips for the chickens outdoor run and muddy area are WAY down below. I am not pushing loads by hand through 5 acres in a wheelbarrow!

Yes, garlic goes in october. Not sure it'll do anything if you plant it now.

Still no more babies here. Just the one that pipped last night and hatched this morning. There are still the same 4 pipped and no more. I think I’m panicking since my last real hatch (that wasn’t just one egg) all hatched on day 20 pretty much. And it feels weird to have one hatch so early and it be this long before anyone joins him. Hoping I wake up to babies.

Update 2 update: Day 21 24 hatched, 12 to go.....Update 1...5 hatched, Currently day 19 with 4 pipped, trying egg cartons, after first two early birds on day 18. hubby was convinced chicks would be stuck in the bottom of egg and not get out so switched to lower profile egg crates. quickly before more pipped. I am not sure, but I do like the idea that the birds are not getting trampled. I planned to be good and leave the birds in the incubator for 3 days but the first early bird would not leave the new birds alone once he was 6 hours old or so, tried putting some chick crumble to distract him no luck. So in the brooder, he went at just about 1 day old.
