Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

They're all in the brooder and the last one hatched just a few hours ago. I'll get better pics tomorrow.

So, I do one last check on the eggs that aren't doing diddly squat before throwing them out, and low-and-behold, one of my silke eggs had pipped on the wrong side of the shell. I don't know how long ago it pipped, but in my haste to make sure it had a good clear breathing space, I must have hit a vein. Baby is now out of egg, no longer bleeding and still breathing, but So. Much. Blood. If it pulls through this will be my little miracle chick. And it's blue, which is the color I really want...

On a happier note, these are three of the savages that hatched out yesterday -

Love the Mohawks! I have 17 silkie eggs in the incubator. They should hatch on the 18th or 19th.

I was calling my bantams savages because those little 💩's were picking on my duckling. I had to set up a completely different brooder. I think my silkie was the only one not picking on the ducklings. The duckling was nibbling its wings though 😂

I hope my Silkies are as nice as yours because I'm planning on putting these Olive Eggers in with them for a little while after they hatch.

I know. Too funny. Poor little thing. They are looking like hot messes in there. Hoping the pipped ones hatch soon and I get a break in the action to pull some chicks out.
I always get that on craigslist. I was selling duck eggs and someone asked if I had 3-4 lb ducklings. My ad clearly said I had no ducklings for sale. And forget it if there is a different animal in the background of what I'm trying to sell. That'll be what they want.

My d'uccles and sebrights are tools. My little chunker silkie is so sweet. Ive never seen it pick on anyone.

My Silkies are sweet with each other but they're officially 3 weeks old which is when I usually set up a separate brooder to at least give the other chicks a few days but I didn't feel like it this time since they'll only be in there for a couple days...I may change my mind, lol, we'll see!
