Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Sorry if I missed some messages or if I misunderstood the emu video but was the emu egg stinky because it died some time ago?

lol, you’re not allowed to do anything but chicken. That’s it!

Based on the size of the embryo, I’m guessing it was about a week old? Which would mean it died I little over two weeks ago. I put Fizzgig in the incubator 2/1. I’m sure over time bacteria takes over and grows like crazy in the egg and starts to smell BAD. I have yet to have a chicken egg go stinky so I can’t compare, but emu eggs get really stinky. Knock your socks off type stinks.

I just wish it was one of the other eggs :( Fizzgig could have been white!

Aww 😔
Okay I guess that’s the info I missed, that you set them on 2/1. Glad you were able to narrow it down before it became a really horrible problem.

Oh I know shame on me for skimming and scanning the messages too fast 😂 Long day, I was just trying to find stinky emu egg info.

Ok, I’m a bit confused. I tought You candle day 18 and transfer to the hatcher on day 19. Thats also what my hatchabatch app says znd as I recall it’s what I did the previous years. But now I started using Ichatch-chickens app and it’s letting me know I need to transfer them to the hatcher today (day 18). :th I’m on holliday. It’s a 40 minute drive home, so I could do it if really necessary but off course would rather not.

Oh, and these eggs have been set 2/16 at noon

I have two incubators running and after last Saturday's short power outage I am just hope that I have a good hatch. Green egg layers in one incubator and a mix of many breeds in the other. The power was off for about 4 hours and everyone has assured me in the thread I started about it that they should still hatch, just later. My prayers and vigilance for these eggs...

That's what I was afraid of. My eggs are all shipped, with mostly slippery air cells. Maybe I should order a new turner for the Hovabator :hmm
I got a new one because the roll around one was too loud. I keep my incubator in my office and work @ home. Otherwise I was hand turning and was afraid I'd forget. I added a humidikit too and it's great! If you've ever had issues with humidity I highly recommend one. Our climate is so dry and humidity was always a major battle.

They'll be fine if you wait until you get home.
