Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I'm sitting here contemplating how much trouble I'd get in if I just popped into TSC just to "see" if their chicks are in yet...I am definitely not the person to go to for poultry discipline 🤣🤣
I'm staying away from TSC for now until chick days are over because I don't need anymore. I still have 18 growing

I intentionally have not set up the brooder yet so that I can, hopefully, get feed without bringing any little ones home. I already have a staggered hatch, I am not set up for 3 age groups of little ones, lol.
The swaps are starting this month so I'm trying not to get anymore than what I hatch just incase I find something I like at the swap.

I have a fever... and the only prescription is more chickens 🤦‍♀️ my current coop is probably only 2/3 full, but they are content and comfortable. We are building a second, larger coop once the snow melts, though.

This batch of eggs could yield me 15 chicks, and I have 18 more eggs coming in April, plus whatever I hatch from my own flock while experimenting with hatching methods. Every time my husband raises an eyebrow I say "you can't count your chickens before they hatch" or "coyote insurance" 🤷‍♀️🙈. I have people that want to buy eggs from me, and a few breeding projects I want to start. Plus a family friend who has 6 kids and a flock of old birds that don't lay consistently...so I want to give them some young birds this year to boost their egg numbers.

I really just want to "see" if TSC has any mille fleurs in the bantam bin because I love them 😂

Edited for autocorrect..

I’ll join in if I get my Icelandic eggs in time! :p currently have 1 out of the 6 Ayam Cemani eggs I got from a friend in the bator (the other 5 weren’t fertilized ☹️), but it’s hatch date is coming up on Thursday so it’ll be out of there in time, hopefully. And because apparently ducks and a goose aren’t enough, I’m doing it backwards and getting chickens last. Haha! Also planning some Runners and potentially Ancona/Buff Orpington ducks, but they’ll be later. More like a April hatch-a-long. 😝

I love the variety of breeds everyone is setting!

I'm not sure if mine sell bantams. I'm going to see what these bantam polish chicks look like first before I look for more bantams. I have a coop that fits 4 standard chickens. So I know it'll fit about 6-8 bantams 😂

I'm not 100% sure mine does, either. I have never purchased from them (yet lol); all of my chickens have come from local chicken keepers! I'm hoping they do, though, because mille fleur is one of my biggest breed crushes and I know they are fairly common in the bantam bin.
