Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

It has begun! First time hand turning chicken eggs but I have done quail so this should be a breeze right. Blue eggs (top ones, might look white) are big so I wouldn't have been able to use the auto turner even if I found all the pieces... Hmm is missing turner pieces a good enough excuse to buy a second incubator?

I woke up at 4 am and now I want to check that egg. I'm trying to resist the urge, but I want to see if my little peep peep is out.

So yesterday one of the chicks escaped and my husband stood outside with me and we were peeping like a chick to get it to come back. We FINALLY got it! We put the chicks in with our new hen because they can fly right out of the shed 🙄

@Mosey2003 I believe it was you that asked about producing an image with the air cell marked while weighing for a better air cell example. What days would you like me to mark? I numbered and weighed all of the Silkie eggs and marked the air cell for day 0. Does 0/7/14/18 sound right? I'll do the same with the Ameraucana eggs I'm getting in a few days, that way we'll have both a bantam and a standard example in light colored eggs so you can actually see my marks. lol
That sounds great!

Woke up to this. Another olive egger egg is almost out. So impatient!! He’s taking forever 🤣 not really they’re taking the right amount of time.
Although that olive egger chick looks awfully a lot like it got fertilized by my white leghorn 🤦‍♀️ Unless that’s how they look like at first. Sorry for the low quality pic.
