Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Sorry been busy with company and cooking and kids and newly hatched chicks.

When I collected the olive eggs they were free ranging but I only ever saw the OE rooster mounting them, but I guess that WL roo was sneaking around somehow.

Yes, they’re all white except one. There’s a second one that’s not white, but still lighter than an olive egger should be.

Here’s the only OE that looks like an OE. Mind my makeshift brooder. It’s only temporary my really good one is out in the shop with the 6 1-week old chicks

So cute!! Maybe the cross will give you some interesting eggs colors? If nothing else I bet it will increase egg production!

Oh my heavens. I am overrun by eggs.

After just ONE neighbor - not even our hay supplier! - brought his eggs over, I am at over 80 eggs. :thI couldn’t tell him no because he’d just spent the half hour collecting them! It’s a mix of duck and chicken eggs, and I have way more duck eggs than I ever anticipated. I hardly know a thing about ducks, let alone about incubating them! I’ll be making a thread about that soon - I’ll be needing some tips. But the incubator is just about full... I’ll have to turn down anyone else who brings eggs, because Lord knows I can’t handle so many fluffy nuggets. I’m gonna need a bigger brooder!

That’s what I was thinking. For sure the olive eggs I set on the 21st will be OE from both sides. Hopefully my husband’s aunt will want to buy some of the ones we hatch then. Since I won’t have room for anymore after this.
