Last year I learned with Cluckndoodle from LilyD while watching her ducks take DAYS to hatch that as long as you see them making chewing motions, they are still actively absorbing the yolk.
it’s unbelievably clear with ducks but even still so with chickens. I’ve used that tip ever since and never assisted too early and left many to hatch successfully on their own I would have thought needed intervention.

I’m guessing by the size and development around day 11-12 or so, but it’s brain wasn’t in its skull. Anyone else ever see anything like that before? I could still see small vessels when candled so left it alone for a couple of days, but when no growth was apparent and there was a funky feathered shadow upon candling again, I cracked it.
