Maybe just a defect and nothing to do with incubation. Weird things happen sometimes.![]()
This crossed my mind as well.

I'm not sure. I think the yellow grey is buff Orpington hen/ sapphire gem rooster. the black one is probably one of my easter egger hens but not sure is dad is the sapphire gem or an easter egger rooster. This was a tester batch for my incubator.Depending on the breed that may mean it's a male.
Yeah I’m crossing my fingers. I should just let him rest in the dark in the bator until he is dry right? I really appreciate you looking for an article. I’m going to keep reading tonight as well and I’ll take action in the morning.
It doesn't mean anything then. Just a marking. It will differentiate sexes in sex linked chicks which are bred specifically for that. I think you have to have a barred father with some solid colored hen but I don't know all the details.I'm not sure. Where do you live in middle GA? What part of south GA are you going to? We live in Duluth and I'm from Savannah, originally.I lost at the last minute. THANK YOU, LORD. We are headed down to south ga for the weekend and I did NOT need a load of chicks showing up. It's hard enough to get your birds looked after without more new babies.
I would like to go ahead and confess that I did go ahead and bid on more.![]()

'It's hard enough to get your birds looked after without more new babies.' Here I have 2 that just hatched, one egg that I'm waiting one and then another incubator with 17 eggs in it. While at tractor supply this morning, I'm looking at their chicks thinking maybe I'll get a couple. Glad I somehow resisted.
It’s probably because because of how he was positioned in the egg. It should work it’s self out, but you can always make him little boots to keep his leg in the right spotSee what I mean? View attachment 2043241
