Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I was calling my bantams savages because those little 💩's were picking on my duckling. I had to set up a completely different brooder. I think my silkie was the only one not picking on the ducklings. The duckling was nibbling its wings though 😂

Silkies are great brooder buddies for non-aggressive breeds - I brood all ages together, and the Silkies just take it in stride. My fully-grown Silkie roos even let the itty bits climb on/over/under them

I wouldn't worry too much right now. Does he start running his little legs in circles like he's on an upsidedown bicycle? That's usually what I see when they try to flip over and then they give up for a little while and rest some more. If he's on his back without flipping over for over an hour then I would consider taking him out of the incubator and holding him in a righted position for a while.

I held the baby upright for a while and it seemed to help. It’s still rolling over but seems to be able to right it self more often. Last I checked it was upright asleep. 🤞

I’m silently freaking out that more chicks haven’t hatched. 7/19 chicks are out and today was day 21.

Fingers crossed for the rest of your peeps and I'm glad little flipper is starting to recover.

9 hatched on my day 21
And 7 hatched on day 22 so you have time.
Can’t believe how fast chicks grow!! I need to start planning a coop for my chicks. Their brooder is still good but I just know in a week or two it will be too crowded for them

Haha yep definitely naming her Flip/Flipper. 😂
I always name mine by something they do. I have those bantams and I'm not naming them yet until they're bigger. I did name that silkie Chubs we were thinking about naming it Butter instead because it's fat like a Butterball turkey 😂

I'll also have to name these 3 ducklings. I hope I can come up with good names
