Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

The second of the two Birchen Marans eggs hatched this afternoon! I'm very happy, as my Marans track record is terrible, lol. There are still 12 eggs in the hatcher on day 22.5, plus the second frizzle OE is currently zipping. I candled this afternoon to check the slow pokes.

So cute! 12 eggs left of how many that you locked down? I'm hoping the rest hatch for you and they're just slow pokes!

I checked my Marans eggs before I went to bed last night to officially toss the infertile eggs. I have 6 developing eggs!! That's still 4 infertile eggs and 1 blood ring before things even got interesting but I'm so excited that it's not just 2 developing!

I gave my broody hen 2 of the Olive Egger chicks last night. She was untested so I was really nervous about it but she was broody for 2 months! I couldn't break her. She seems to be doing well with her babies this morning!

I checked my Marans eggs before I went to bed last night to officially toss the infertile eggs. I have 6 developing eggs!! That's still 4 infertile eggs and 1 blood ring before things even got interesting but I'm so excited that it's not just 2 developing!

I set 36 shipped eggs (3 vendors @ 12 each) with 26 making it to lockdown. 6 clears, 3 blood rings, 1 quitter between days 6 and 10.
I candled yesterday morning, 2 are possibly DIS, 4 still had veins but I didn't see movement, 8 were moving, and I apparently missed one. One has hatched since then, 3 current pips, and one is zipping.

I am thinking I need to move the next batch around in the incubator during the first 18 days to account for temp variations inside the incubator, even though it has a fan.
