I have a few goose eggs I wanted to put in the incubator but one has a very tiny crack on the pointy end of the egg. If I were to put nail polish on it does it need to be clear or can I use a colored polish

I put coloured on mine and it grew fine for awhile, but guessing from bacteria it died before hatch

Candled my chicken eggs tonight!

Incubator Clutch: due 3/31. 100% fertilized and wiggling! Going to pat my rooster on the back tomorrow . Humidity in this bator is holding around 19%, and the average weightloss so far is 6%. I'm wondering if this seems high, but I'm going to stay the course as the whole point of this clutch is to figure out if adding minimal water to this bator works for me. I add water if it dips below 19%, causing it to rise to around 25% before settling back at 19%.

Broody clutch: due 3/21 and 4/2. She has 6 eggs, 3 of which will hatch this weekend. They were all wiggling when I checked them this evening! She has 3 other eggs that she acquired about 5 days ago and they were all fertilized as well! When her babies hatch, I will move these 3 eggs to a bator.

I saw my second roo mounting someone the other day, so I'm thinking we may need to get Maury in here to figure out who fathered these chicks!

About 4pm I noticed one of the silkie eggs had pipped. There hasn't been any change since then. I haven't opened the incubator. Should I check on it or just leave it be.

I would leave it be! It can take a while to get from pip to zip, I think up to 24 hours! Someone please correct me if that's wrong lol.

I don't want to open it up and mess up the humidity or temp.

Can take 48 sometimes... Depends what you're hatching

Leave it be. Mine always hatch while I'm sleeping

Exactly. It's best not to open it up unless you absolutely have to, and in that case you want to do it in a very warm, humid room. Like the bathroom with the shower on. The pip looks good, I'd wait it out!
