Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Mine looks even, not slipped to me. It looks like it’s more toward the hip. Will treating it like splayed leg work?

If it's a deformity then no because the actual bone itself would be deformed. If it's a slipped tendon then you would need to straighten the leg and move the tendon back into place before wrapping the leg as the ultimate goal is to get the tendon to stay put. Unfortunately putting a hobble on the chick like you would for splay leg won't be helpful for either issue unless the leg is shooting out to the side and the chick is unable to keep it's legs underneath itself.

It can't keep it's legs under it. When he tries to walk, they slip out.

Then yes you could make a little hobble and that may help. Hopefully that's all it is but from your images it does look like the leg is twisted in an awkward direction at the hock. It can be so hard to tell from pictures sometimes though.

Aww, I hope little one recovers!! Small hernias like that will sometimes heal over like a black button but are otherwise perfectly normal. Will need to keep things extra clean for it and if you have it I would dab chlorhexidine on the navel once a day to help prevent infection.
Thank you. The marans from clutch one has a herniation scab as well, and it's totally fine. This guy is in much rougher shape though. :(

So, it looks like I may have to assist. I checked the little one. This little one didn't pip in the air sac. It also looks like it may be shrink wrapping. I removed some of the shell and applied coconut oil. I guess I should have taken some pics. I also opened the air sac. She was chirping the entire time. I've put her back in the incubator for a little while and will go back and check on her. Before removing her initially, I candle the remaining eggs. I found one that I must have missed as it appears not to have even started developing. One has an external pip and the other 2 don't show any sign of movement and no pips. I left them in there in case I just wasn't seeing movement.
