Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

How is everyone? No more hatching in March around here. I'll have to track down the April HAL because I plan to be busy with babies! Tossed a few non-starters today, and started taking a closer look at my CCL which (praise!) are mostly female. The marans had one hatch that must have been (scandal!!) sired by a non-marans daddy--a cute little brownish lad or lassie.

Thank you!! I have decided I need to focus on my black marans and so trying to source some nice ones for yet another hatch!
I spoke with Jim at G-Bear Farms in OK a couple weeks ago about his Marans. I know he has Black breeding groups but I was calling specifically about his BBS pens. Definitely check out his Facebook page and see is it's something you're interested in. His Wheatens are stunning! When I decide to get back into Marans he will be one of my first call.

Any updates on your assist?
I assisted the hatch, it finished hatching around 9 this morning then I fell asleep, the chick is doing good. It's an Easter Egger

Sorry to be so AWOL on this hatch!!

Tale of two hatches for sure here as my one from the first of March only resulted in 2 chicks from 12 eggs but so far today I have 5 Barnevelder babies in the brooder out of 6 eggs. The last egg is being given until tomorrow since today was just day 21. Tried to candle it when I moved the chicks out of the incubator and thought I saw movement but not sure as the egg is dark shelled and I am a novice. One thing learned in the two attempts is that the Brinsea Maxi 2 Advanced was super simple to use but uber difficult to get hatch photographs due to the dome shape giving distortions from every angle! Here is one I was able to get today of one zipping.

:fl :fl Please let at least half of these be girls!!!:fl:fl
