Hello I'm a new member. So I have a question because I think I may have unintentionally messed up...So I work security at a hospital where some Geese so happen to lay eggs in the parking lot. The area was lighty barricaded off. After a week or so a decision was made to make the barricade a bit larger. In attempts to widen the area of protection the security officer scared the Geese away. That happened at about 7am. Well after more than 12 hours the Geese had still not returned. So at about 2:30am the following morning I disposed of the eggs assuming they were duds by that point...Now I'm scared that I may have done something wrong. Can anybody please give me some help/info?

Probably bad but it wouldn’t hurt to check
Well I do know that sometimes Geese/Ducks do rise up off the eggs to cool or regulate the temp and if they do leave it's only for a short while and will cover the eggs with sticks, leaves, feathers, dirt...this was not the case, it had been jus under 20 hours that the eggs had been exposed and still no sign of adult Geese anywhere close by. I had on rubber gloves and the eggs were cool to the touch, not warm at all....Also I jus found out that these animals are federally protected and I don't want to get in any trouble.

Probably not much of a chance for them... oh well, nature will be nature.
True, I jus feel bad and I'm second guessing my decision. Especially now that I've been told they are federally protected animals. I don't want to be jailed or loose my job over something like this.
