I said magpie because of one duckling in particular. In your picture, see the one sorta in the top middle with the big black spot on his head? I have never seen a blue swedish like that, but I have seen a magpie baby like that. I have hatched well over 50 blue sweds since I got into ducks and the only white they ever had was either on their chest, or they became solid whites.

The one I have grew into this handsome young man:

OMG He is gorgeous!!! Maybe I'll keep the questionable one as an extra, and make sure I have two males that I know are blue swedish, that way if he turns out to be a different type of duck, I can find him some womens to flirt with

Cause I know already I'm gonna want more different types of ducks

The magpies are pretty too, those were my third choice (second choice was black east indies).

I love my ducks. Talk about cheap entertainment! LOL

I have been getting an egg a day from my khaki for a couple of weeks now. I think the other egg I am getting is from my runner. The buff should start laying any time now.

The eggs are the size of a jumbo chicken egg, the whites are firmer and the yolks are fantastic.

I took 6 eggs and put them in my homemade incubator...so I should have some khaki's and khakixrunners if things go well (my drake is a khaki)

If I get any more ducks, I think a Welsh Harlequin would be cool

Hubby is gonna freak if I get tons of different duck breeds, I can't get crazy like I did with the chickens when I first started. I want to figure out which ones I really really want, and not get too many that might interbreed.

I knew I wanted to keep it down to two or three breeds of ducks, which is why I chose the blues for my firsty breed - that way I get variety within the breed. I like the spotted ducks, and the black/greens, too. The bantam ducks are adorable, the calls I have are plenty of those, though - I have two drakes and three ducks of Calls. I have a blue pair, and (silver) splash pair and one lone Khaki girl (her drake got eaten by a hawk). However, the pure white calls are adorable, so if I happen across any of those cheap....

I've always wondered... do duck eggs taste any different than chicken eggs?

I have also heard that duck eggs are great for baking, though.
