To ointment or not to ointment?

I'm sorry about your other bird. She may have panicked and slid around the tub until she was chilled and exhausted. I hope everything turns out well for both.
Persephone continues to do well. I plan to continue the baths until Thanksgiving at least, just to be thorough and not risk anything.

Phoebe is gone, though. I put her back in the hutch, placing her into the nesting box in hopes she would warm up. Checked on her this morning, and rigor mortis had already set in. Will update on Persephone this evening.

I'm so sorry! I feel kind of responsible since I said to bring her inside with Persephone.

That's fine. It was my decision to try it anyway, and there's nothing to be done about it now. She wasn't the first quail I've lost since starting to care for quail.

Day 8 update: Persephone seems to be doing fine. She's very fussy with the pants and socks I put down for her. I'm not sure if she's trying to floof up a nest for herself or if her dust bathing instincts are getting the better of her.

She's looking really good. Those are healing nicely.
Day 9 update. I think it's so cute when she's in the tub after treatment. She rustles about and when I quietly poke my nose in to see what she's doing, she freezes and stares at me as if to say "What? I'm not doing anything".

I noticed she had a tiny layer of poop caked onto the larger scab. I made sure to wash it of before putting her in the epsom water, and I also smeared a smidgen of ointment on each foot for good measure.
